Attention Rutgers Athletic Department: BRING BACK THE HORSE VIDEO

bump for the people who work in the athletic department

FYI, I just watched the beginning of the RU game vs Penn State from 2 years ago and the crowd/students went nuts when the video was played and horse came out

YOU STILL HAVE NOT PROVIDED A REASON WHY YOU AXED THE VIDEO...the whole opening montage is pretty weak and very little excitement or buildup has been generated when the team comes out

Does RU make a habit of officially responding to egregiously outspoken message board mouths?

Maybe under the Mickey Mouse operation that was Julie Herman, but Hobbs seems to run a professional department. Which means letting the hot air dilute into the atmosphere without actually acknowledging it.

a professional department should at least be listening to what the paying fans want....they may have their own opinion, but
it would be foolish to not pay attention

Mr Hobbs, if you see this, bring back the original horse video...the video now does nothing, it was a move in the wrong
direction.

By reading a message board? And even people in this thread didn't give a crap, don't think this is that much of an issue for the greater fan base or the department.

I want "Wear Red To The Game" brought back. Too many people in black, white, grey, green, blue, and whatever the F* they feel like wearing. Don't get me wrong, not bad - nowhere close to what it was like pre-Schiano - but seeing more and more non-red each year. Yes, I understand there are more visiting fans in the stands now, that's NOT what I'm talking about so don't bother lol!

No one knows if the administration reads the board..... But I would wager your average RU fan sitting in the seats liked the original horse video, and looked forward to it

No, it is not a big issue in the grand scheme of things..... But someone in the administration thought the new very short video was an improvement, and it was not..... Not by a long shot

Me, if I was the A.D., Would appreciate fan feedback on all things..... You would be hope he was sensitive to what fans like, and do not like..... He does not come off as insensitive.

Part of your answer here seems to be saying " we don't care what the paying fans are saying, we know better"

As one who owned a business I was always sensitive to my customers thoughts, and a lot of the time I came to agree and follow what they thought.

It was good for business to give them what they want.... If possible.

I was not saying that. I am saying this is a small issue, to a percentage of fans and not all, an issue that the average fan won't make a purchasing decision around. Like a couple of your customers complaining about the paper towels you use in the bathroom.
 
Also suggesting that speaking out like a lunatic on a message board is prolly not the way to attract a serious response.

I have read through all the posts here and there is very little "speaking out like a lunatic going on".. You may not agree with asking for the original video back, and that is fine...

Most who would like it back are sincere with the request and do so respectfully.

They absolutely have people, likely interns, perusing these boards. I know this for a fact. While my contacts at RU have dwindled recently I can tell you that, for years now, I would get calls, e-mails, the texts, not only during the week, but during games, about thoughts, questions, and concerns, that our fan base and posters had regarding pretty much anything but mainly game day operations (same goes for others here as well...). They know, trust me, they know more than you think.

I honestly don't get the angst with this one. I've said this before - as I've been to a ton of away games (since I was a kid) - that I honestly recall very, very few schools playing the alma mater BOTH before and after games. Typically, after, which I'm 100% fine with us doing. See no need for before and after to be honest.

Just because they don't doesn't mean we can't. It was a traditiona here. Didn't OSU play theirs before the game? It might have been some other song.

I have read the Bac thread bump post and find nothing wrong with it......... Nuts says they read our forum, they must do it to monitor fans thoughts.

Actually, the bump was pretty well timed, considering we have a home game five days out or so, so if the administration is reading our posts, they have time to adjust and put the old video back in, if they so decide

Bottom line for me
There was nothing gained by the new video, and many think something was lost by the switch.

I would doubt there are many who prefer the change... In fact I would continually work on the longer, around the campus video, making it as dramatic and interesting as possible.....

At the end I would find a way to lengthen out the last part going through the tunnel... Try to build up that moment when the horse emerges..... A crowd pleaser, imho.
 
we lost 58-0,and have the guy who wants to take over recruiting in state of NJ,here on Saturday night..and you people are worried about a horse video..??.

I don't think anyone is asking Ash to personally do this so I doubt it will take away from his recruiting efforts. New video is too short. Many fans don't realize it is being played and the crowd reaction is much less when the horse enters. Is this a make or break decision for the program? Absolutely, can't imagine the program being a success around it. Only being sarcastic. The new administration appears to be trying to improve game day atmosphere. This is one change that wasn't an improvement. Am I going to kill them for it. Absolutely not. You try things, some work and some do not.

Stadium operations are abysmal. The intro is awful. They won't bring back the horse video & there no concessions walking around
 
So agree..the pregame production this year is downright amateurish. .and ita creating zero excitement. .I guess they dont want to use constructive criticism to improve anything

I will say "Have you ever seen the rain..." was a nice and funny touch.

But other than that agree 100%. Not good. I thought the last guy wasn't too good either.

* And this kind of thing is so "Same ole Rutgers" :(

i just completed the on line survey that most of us probably got, and asked for the original horse video to
be reinstated....

2 things I want to see:

- the horse makes it way across the ENTIRE length of the field, getting fans throughout the stadium revved up, then come back towards the student section to do the smae

- the horse somehow take a lap around the stadium following TD's ala Traveler.
