For those who think that this move is a disaster for Rutgers - - I'd say no, quite to the contrary!! this has actually punched the visibility turbo-boost button! in a publicity / NASCAR mixed metaphor - OSU & Rutgers are - right now, for a few laps - running out in front of the rest of the B1G pack - drafting off of each other & basking in having their logos filling up the camera - and the announcers repeating their names.
Gotta figure that the projected shelf life of Schiano at OSU will be 12- 24 months - and from an RU perspective, the best case is that he is positively brilliant at OSU and vaults into another NFL HC spot - It will be interesting to see if Schiano buys a 'home' (as opposed to a tidy condo or rents) in Columbus.
Schiano is good - but no matter how good he is, it is going to take just a bit of time to mend fences, make new relationships, get back up to being truly as 'connected' as he once was - and it will have to be done all while integrating himself into the new OSU environment - so the true impact that he will have on NJ in his first 12 months will be limited by practical reality.
