Happy for the guy and he may become an HOF coach.
But check out his resume, (which I'm not computer literate enough to attach)
He has to be one of the luckiest men on the planet to have one of the premier coaching jobs in the entire world.

May become a HOF coach? Pump the brakes. It's very hard to become a HOF coach. Besides Belichick there are no other active coaches who currently have a shot.

I understand that RUchip and you're right.
I should have said he may end up being a good coach for the Giants.

Bad time to rip on Macadoo after ya know, the Giants just won a total "must win game"......pointless. How about we give him some credit??!

The guy got the job from being a knowledgeable, well rounded individual, who happened to have installed an offense that made the franchise qb look extremely good. He was apprenticed under 2 fantastic Super bowl winning head coaches. What is the issue?

Instead of playing or being a student manager, or even a student at a football power, McAdoo just focused on phys ed major at a d2 school around Pittsburgh and stuck around his high school and applied himself to coaching.....then somehow he got in as a grad asst. at Michigan State. I wonder if he knew someone within MSU staff or if he just showed a hardcore geek knowledge or ability to work to get that position.

I'll wait for the end of season before saying how good he is or might be.
Right now the Giants have a 3-3 record with 10 games to play .
Let's see in they make the playoffs .
I think they have a great shot to do that, but the Giants haven't done it yet

There are too many bad HC's who ascended from being good coordinators:
Gus Bradley
Adam Gase
Todd Bowles
Dirk Koetter
Doug Pederson
and Ben McAdoo.

Just because you're a good coordinator doesn't mean you'll be a winning HC. It is an example of the Peter Principle, where "managers rise to the level of their incompetence."

Add to the list failed retreads like Delrio, Jim Caldwell, Hue Jackson, Mike Mularkey and you have some really bad coaching going on in the NFL

This is always how it's been. Ya know bellichek was a defensive coach at one point... coughlin was an offensive coach. Pretty much every coach in NFL was an offensive/defensive coach at some point. Yes, some are good and some are busts, just like anything else...don't see the point in this post... its too small of a sample size for a bunch of guys on your list anyway.

Isn't your list a bit premature? You explicitly call these guys "bad HCs," but just to address a few of them:

1. McAdoo is 3-3 after 6 games. Seems unlikeable, but jury is out.
2. Pederson is 3-2 after 5 games, all with a rookie QB. I hate the Eagles, so I hope you're right here.
3. Bowles won 10 games in his first year and certainly seems to be struggling this year.

I see where you're going, but I think it's way to early to write these guys off with certainty yet.

This is a joke, right? McAdoo, Pederson and Gase have coached exactly 5 games each. Bowles, while trending down this year, was 10-6 last year.

Scary -- we wrote almost the same thing at the same time.

Where did he install an offense that made any franchise QB look extremely good?
Certainly you're not speaking of Eli.

I also said he may become an HOF coach, so what's the problem?

With all due respect sir, cause I know you who are, if you don't think Eli was fantastic the past 2 seasons under Mac then I just don't know what to tell you...go google the #s. He's thrown for the most TDS in a 2 year span and thrown for the fewest INTs in a 2 year span, for his career. Yes Beckham was there. But there's No denying the Giants passing offense has been good the past 3 years, it's not Mac's fault there's no running game (run blockers suck + Jennings isn't that great)

Hope he sucks just long enough to get rid of Reese. Don't care for the new Mara kids as owners either. Better get Beckham under control before someone takes him out. Dude begs for a dirty hit every game. When he gets laid out there will be a whole lot of NFLers happy about it

You sound old. And out of touch. To each their own...

That was a good one old timer. It only took you breaking a hip and shitting your Depends to think of that
Based on a poor running game, lack of protection at times and a porous defense, I have to agree with you.

Old and out of touch, referring to ones age is something you should refrain from when addressing fellow board members who don't agree with you.

You don't judge a first time HC in the NFL after six games. Let's revisit this in a couple of years.

Eli and Phillip Rivers who I never hear anybody say is not a good QB have almost identical lifetime statistics. Oh and of course there are the two Super Bowl wins that Eli has, both won by making two of the greatest clutch throws in NFL history.
