OK, as a followup to the "Top Twenty Five Football Arrest List" during the past five year post, I would like to know which cities/towns are the safest if you were going to sleep in the car for a night. This can be from personal experience or not....

anywhere not ghetto/urban.. that's the truth if you've been around the country like i have

Obviously sleeping in a city gives you the most exposure to something bad happening, on the flip side sleeping in an upper class town you will stick out like a sore thumb and be harassed by the cops to move your car. I know that the Walmart parking lot welcomes people who sleep in their car - but other than that this is a tough question. Are you sleeping in a winnebago/van where no one can see you or are you sleeping in your car where all the neighbors will see you sleeping there?

Best thing to do is buy one of those sun shades that cover the windshield. Park in a parking lot of an apartment or condo building where no one will even notice another car. If you have tinted windows which most cars do nowadays, no one will even know you are in there.

While "On the Job"?

Well, if you were "On the Job" then there would be other real considerations to take into account, like ever waking up again. No, this survey would not include our members of law enforcement. And, I'm assuming that is what you meant.

I spent a few nights sleeping at a rest area along the Turnpike when I moved back to Jersey in the late 80's. Nobody bothered me there.

To answer the OP's question: any rest stop on the NJ Turnpike, as well as apartment complexes in East Windsor or similar with crowded traditional parking lots. I've slept in the car at both as a break between night and/or day shifts..

I slept in my car one time because we were in MD and there was a Nascar event and no rooms. We parked in hotel parking lot that had pool, figure we could refresh in the morning in the pool

Ive slept in my camper van almost everywhere on the planet.....Manhattan, Staten Island...and tons of places all over USA....one of the BEST places Ive slept in NJ is the welcome area as you enter NJ near Swedesboro...bathrooms are open all night and the employees are downright cool....I usually plan to stay there and get rested before I tackle my trip to NB/Rutgers etc.......

Pull into a local gas station with a garage after closing time and you will look like just another car waiting to be fixed. Roll out early before they open.
