I know this has been talked about here, and I've read the older threads, but I need advice.

Planning to get one of the streaming apps to watch college football this season... and Rutgers basketball in the wintertime.

Not sure if the new Big Ten media package deal has changed which product is the best to buy, to get all the Rutgers football games and as many of the other games as possible.

YouTube Tv, or Hulu Plus? ESPN+? Sling? Fubo? Regular cable tv package from FIOS?

I currently only have FIOS for internet... and have been "figuring out a way" to watch the games online without paying anything. But it's time for me to get something to watch on a proper tv screen with my kids now that they're old enough to watch with me.

The new media package doesn't start until July 1, 2023.

ESPN+ is irrelevant for Rutgers with the exception of the football game at Temple.

YouTubeTV or Hulu Plus will give you everything you need.

There are a bunch of IPTV options that will give you everything you are looking for and more. Do a search and check out the names you've never seen a commercial for.
You'll thank me later.
PM if you can't figure it out. Not sure how tech savvy you are.
Don't think the one I use is accepting new customers right now.

Wow. I didn't expect that! Hahaha.

I've never heard of IPTV before, but I'm reading about it right now from a google search. Is it a legit alternative to the usual options (youtubetv etc)? Never heard of a single one of the IPTV providers listed... which do you recommend?

Does it need to be used on a firestick or can it be put on my smart tv? Is it legal??? Is it kid-friendly? So many questions..

This warrants further research...

There are IPTV apps for any platform. IPTV Smarters is free and available for all platforms.
You still need a service provider and its not plug and play. One of you kids can hook you up if you can't figure out the set up.
Use Duckduckgo.com instead of Google. eff them!

IPTV has been a lifesaver. Definitely the way to go

Hulu. I’m in my third CFB season with it and never missed any P5 game I’ve wanted to watch. All the Fox channels, all the ABC/Espn channels (including ACC and SEC networks), CBS channels, etc.

youre not doing anything illegal. You’re paying for TV service which is certainly legal.

Tried a few. Now have Sling Blue ($35) and the Sports Plan w/BTN ($11). You can opt for including Sling Orange, too. I think that another $11 and gives you all the ESPNs and a bit more.

Youtube made its focus to be the best for sport coverage
I got all the sports channels with basic - Fios wanted me to go up a whole level just to have CBS Sports and Army games.
They have a great DVR function - save (cloud) what you want for a year (and you can skip commercials).
You can turn service on and off at will
You can have multiple devices at once (TV, phone, tablet, laptop etc).'
You can have multiple games in multiple browsers on computer screen
Watch a game at the mall, beach, car trip etc on a phone

It’s the best for college sport and great for us RU fans. In fairness, if you’re a Yankees, Knicks, Devils or Rangers fan you might look elsewhere as it doesn’t offer YES or MSG.

agree plus I think it's expensive for what you get

They have Yankee games
MSG is a problem because there are persistent rumors the network up for sale as soon as MSG has a YT deal

LMAO those sites are all illegal, and no different than all of the illegal Kodi add-ons. Good luck

I can assure you YouTubeTV hasn’t had YES for a couple of years, boss . The link you provided shows the handful of Yankees games on ESPN.

it’s not a site. I’ve had my service for 3 years and has been exceptional.

agree..streaming sites are illegal cause you’re not paying for anything. And agree about Kodi add ons. All free….hence illegal.

Most legit IPTV services are paid services…hence nothing illegal from the viewers part.

Who has it and at what cost?
I dont watch Yankees (sound like OP doesn't either) but it sounds like package costs go up if they had all the games.
When YYTV price goes up its because they add channels I dont watch (HGTV etc).
That was the point of cord cutting

Thanks all for the input. I'll probably end up going with YouTube TV... was hoping I'd find something a little less expensive but it's not looking like it.

If I showed you the quality I get you would sh!t. Am a paying Fios customer and never watch their feed. Get yourself a VPN and the answer is between mikemark and Leonard.😎😎

If someone has Fios internet there should be a best quality
The fiber is relatively new and doesn't choke-up at busy hours like cable
Sometimes a Roku device can smooth out buffering if speed is slow.
I run Fios through my own router with a Roku and things look ace.
Games look good without Roku too but I use a 4 yr old smart TV that was better than my 2010 TV

Have you tried the FIOS TV Mobile App?

We have Spectrum and their app.. on devices that allow it.. is great when not at home to stream live TV including sports. I sometimes wheel in a second TV on a mobile cart (just got it on sale at Monoprice).. and use the Spectrum App on that second TV while using my Tivo on the main TV to show multiple games at once. (for gamer pinball fans.. that cart allows you to rotate the TV to portrait mode.. its pretty cool as a monitor for portrait format videos and games like pinball).

But the main point is for the OP.. that FIOS should have something similar for streaming TV.

Also.. anyone have any issues with the ACCN network's broadcast of the BC game? I heard video cutting out.. saw those fragmented pixel blocks on occasion.. fluctuations in HD "quality"... I have always found many of the ESPN channels offering highly compressed broadcast of low quality.. but this seemed even below their old low standards much of the time.. on a perfectly clear day. I mean.. if they cannot get the AUDIO quality to where it should be.. just.. wow.. that is awful.

When I use the Fios streams they run through my own router and an HDhomerun box so there is no need for any of their equipment or associated fees. Very rarely use the Fios aside from broadband connection. Fios modem is the only equipment in my house that belongs to them.
