May 13-15, 3 games AT Maryland

May 19-21, 3 HOME games vs Northwestern

OSU holds the tie breaker over you having won 2/3. You should sweep NU this weekend. OSU plays Purdue so not sure how much ground you will gain if do. Illni play Minnesota so you could end up jumping them and NU this weekend.

So long as we "jump" by playoff time I'm not worried about doing it this weekend. I like our odds against The 'Huskers, Maryland, and Northwestern. Would like to see the SOS's before making a judgement on Michigan but I THINK this team has a shot to make a run here. We'll see!

Another should be "W" cancelled today. RU was up 2-0 with runners on, in the 1st, and they called the game. I live - almost - across the river from Columbia and unless they have one of the nation's worse fields there is no way in hell that game should have been called. My softball game is still on for tonight for crying out loud!

I agree that this team can make a run, but this weekend is very, very important. With only 12 Big Ten games left (including 6 toughies on the road), we have to win now. We've been playing very good baseball lately, and there is no reason to expect that to change. I think our close calls at the beginning of the year against very stiff competition are coming back to help us out right now. They seem to be in a very good rhythm offensively and the aggressive baserunning style makes us dangerous to score any time someone gets aboard. To stay hot down the stretch, a lot comes down to the pitching. Howie Brey has been phenomenal, but he can only pitch once a weekend. Finding consistency behind him is the key. O'Reilly has looked very good at times this season, especially the last couple weeks against Ohio State and Penn State. Kyle Driscoll has also had his share of nice outings, but he didn't pitch this past weekend against Penn State. Is he hurt? If he is, very important to find a solution as the third weekend starter. In the bullpen, Litterio seems to have found a go-to trio in Max Herrman, Ryan Fleming, and Reed Shuttle, who in conference play have combined to allow just one earned run in 16.1 IP. Keeping that consistency out of the bullpen and rounding out the starting rotation will be very important going forward. Having said that, this team has all the potential to make a run. No team the rest of the way that we can't beat. Very important that we keep it rolling this weekend. Go RU!

RU tops 'Nova today 6-4 with a big 3-run 8th! 1-game over (should be 3....2 damn rain-outs) going into a HUGE weekend with The Huskers!

Some teams ahead of us have played Purdue and Northwestern 6 games. We have not played either yet. We finish at home with Northwestern but do not play Purdue. We really need to play outstanding this weekend vs Nebraska. We have 3 tough games at Michigan and 3 at Maryland before finishing at home vs. Northwestern. We need to finish at least 12-12 in league.

We don't need play "outstanding" this weekend, however, we need to go 2-1. Then go 3-3 against Michigan and Marilynd (BOTH on the road), and 2-1or 3-0 against Northwestern. That would be 7-5 or 8-4 and put us in the middle of the pack. JUST get into the tourney right now.

Need to see Howie "Beast Mode" Brey today and get this thing off on the right foot!

Almost 2 straight weeks of cold rain is why the good NJ (and Northeast) HS baseball players go to warmer climates. This weather SUCKS.

Big weekend AT Michigan coming up Friday.

Michigan can be really tough at home. Their pitching will walk quiet a few guys but they don't surrender a lot of hits. Their guys can hit especially at home. They swept NU in Anne Arbor earlier this year. They hit everything NU threw at them and then hit it again. It's a great venue for college baseball but they are pretty good at protecting their home turf. Good luck!!
