Went back and took a look at all of Pike's RU games where the game winning score came in the final 10 seconds. The results aren't as bad as you may think, we’re a game above .500, which should put to rest some of the talk about us always being on the receiving end of daggers. Just thought this was interesting to see.

2016/2017: 4-1
2017/2018: 1-2
2018/2019 1-1
2019/2020: 1-0
2020/2021: 0-0
2021/2022: 3-3 (Burned TWICE at the end of each OT in ND game)
2022/2023: 0-2 (so far)

Total Record: 10-9

For this year wouldn’t the Purdue, northwestern, PSU and wisconsin games count towards his record or am I missing how you are quantifying the games

Not really indicative of a larger coaching issue in the final possession per se. Just thought this was interesting to see.

Don't you want to check one score games? For instance, Purdue came down to a huge stop in the last ten seconds this year. What games are you counting? Did Northwestern get counted this season? I'm very confused. Do you mean where a basket is scored to decide the game in the last ten seconds? Because Pikes wants to win on defense.

Yes you’re absolutely right, I changed the title and OP as it really isn’t a way to critique Pike, but rather to dispel the myth we’re always on the receiving end of daggers in the final 10 seconds.

5-4 in games this year decided in the last minute

games decided on the last shot or so is NOT the same thing as giving up a significant lead in the last minute.
Getting beat or winning on the last shot on a close back and forth is totally different and easier to swallow.

I think it’s just that we’ve been on the receiving end of some pretty deep and/or unlikely daggers.

That said, we also delivered one in what was probably the biggest win in program history at that point.

Just because the score changed in last 10
Seconds isn’t a great metric I think. How many games were won with a stop after we took a lead with more than 10’seconds and vice versa?
