Purdue scored a big win over Louisville

Illinois lost for the first time this year falling to Wake

Ga Tech nipped Northwestern by 1, the Cats bloom is fading quickly

Va Tech put a beatdown on Iowa

anyone know what the challenge record was before tonight. Probably pretty ugly

Good to see the Purdue win, I think the Big 10 has 3 legit Sweet 16 schools...2 of which may be legit final 4 contenders. I think there is certainly room for navigation for some of the bottom schools to move up. I think things could set up for a Penn State NCAA run given the softness after the top 3

ACC is so much better than the B1G 10 this year it's not even close.

How I see the B1G 10 in terms of Tiers.

Tier 1: Michigan State (should really be in class by themselves); Minnesota; Purdue (NCAA and probable Sweet 16 squads)

Tier 2: Maryland; Penn State; Michigan; (Should make NCAA's but will bow out in weekend 1)

Tier 3: Wisconsin; Northwestern (possible NCAA Bubble teams but likely NIT)

Tier 4: Rutgers; Ohio State; Indiana; Illinois (Up and coming squads - not NIT ready yet)

Tier 5:Iowa; Nebraska (lord awful squads)

I'm not surprised and it's to be expected. The ACC is superior to the B1G this year. Many of the teams are young or rebuilding. I'm not concerned at all. These things are cyclical.

ND vs Sparty tomorrow-------if Irish don't shoot it well it's a long night.

BEP....give Iowa time. If i am right they will end up in the 3rd tier. Time is running low though for making me look good.

What's the deal with baer and Uhl? are they hurt or just not that good?

on kenpom paper we go 4-2 tonight...although the 2 losses are a given and the 4 are tough. Sum up the probabilities it is more like 3-3 and closer to 2-4 then 4-2

Indiana 21% vs Duke
Michigan 23% vs. UNC
Minnesota 62% Miami
Ohio State 53% Clemson
nebraska 58% BC
PSU 64% NC State

Sees Iowa lose big... makes excuses.

Sees Rutgers lose by a few... makes excuses as to why it was so much worse than it appeared.

Iowa played way above expectations last year. I envision this year as reset back to the norm. The year prior they lost a lot.

one thing we all need to remember is that its early...just because a team is losing a few games now does not mean they will suck all year...remember Wisconsin last year...and even Iowa started pretty poorly last season and then rebounded somewhat. I think there are challenges at alot of these Big 10 programs and without knowing everything about them its hard to pinpoint where they are at right now

The ACC was a basketball power even before the power conferences were established and football was secondary. That situation hasn't changed and has gotten stronger with the addition of Syracuse and Louisville.

True, but in the last ten years conference powers has been cyclical. I'm sure recall that the ACC was really down about four or five years ago and the BE and the B1G has been very, very good. That's just my observation.

Worst case scenario. B1G laying an egg. The teams that are doing better than expected are the ines we are counting on leap frogging over. Indiana and Nebraska are prime examples.

Right now I can't see anyone who had to bet their house wouldn't chose RU as the last place team.

Who would have thought Nebraska would be carrying the flag for the B1G out of the 5 games that were played with the ACC today. What an incredibly poor showing this season by the B1G so far.

That being said, I think we are in the same ballpark with a bunch of teams in the bottom third of the league...especially at home.

total domination by the ACC

with the exception of Iowa and Michigan I think all the games have at least been competitive and fairly close in the end. Shocked that Indiana went down to about the 3 minute mark with Duke

The competition with the ACC clearly showed their superiority. Moving forward B1G competition starting this weekend will tell fans where Rutgers ranks and how likely winning 5/6 games will be.

couldnt understand why Duke was only 11 point favorite over Indiana. now i do

I usually agree with you but not this time. RU could get smoked in the next two games and still win 5-6 conference games. Sparty and Minnesota are on a different level than the rest of the league.

Agreed but I think Purdue is very solid too. Better team than most in a Halfcourt game which in March is what decides a ton of the games.

The Indiana faithful and team get fired up when the Dukes/UNCs/Kentuckys come into Assembly Hall. Very entertaining game. Thought that De'Ron Davis played big time in the post in the second half (out for most of 1st half with 2 fouls), however, Davis missing 4 out of 6 FTs coming down the stretch was killer. Approx. 4 minutes to go and those misses let Duke take and build on their lead instead of Indiana hanging in there.

Also, great effort across the board by Indiana players driving and scoring in the paint. They actually out-scored Duke in the paint. Their 3 point shots were not falling and that hurt them.

Compared to what I saw against Indiana State, they've significantly improved.

..and will continue to improve. Archie Miller is an excellent coach, who also has a great class coming in next year.

Well the Big 10 is off to one of its worst starts in years. Appears right now and it is not that close , 1) ACC; 2)SEC; 3) Big East; 4) Big 12; 5) Big 10; 6) Pac-12; 7) American.
The athleticism of Miami and Florida State will let them play with almost anyone in the country .
As for Rutgers chances in the league, they have gotten much better after watching how mediocre the league has played to date, to get close to 500. The only teams that look to be unbeatable are Michigan State and Purdue. We will likely lose to Minnesota but the rest of the league is above average(Maryland ) or average ( everybody else). That is not to say we will beat them but we clearly will be competitive and have a decent chance to beat them. We have Ohio State, Iowa , Nebraska, Northwestern , Wisconsin , Indiana, and Illinois at home, not one of those teams are unbeatable. We also have Nebraska , Illinois and Penn State on the road, again teams that are beatable. It will interesting to see if Pike can keep the team confident after the brutal start of the conference season because after 4 of the first 5, there is a legitimate chance thereafter in the league .
