BIG Tens

Saving up $ for the Nationals at our local MADISON SQ GARDEN.

Been to 15 National's and St Louis is without a doubt the best site I have been to.

Went to my first Nationals last year in St. Louis and it was a blast. With Nationals being in NYC this year I am going back. Unfortunately wont be able to make it out to BIG TENS this year but hope to add it to the list in future years.

Lot of the NCAA conference tournaments are on the same weekend as when we have HS State Finals in NJ. NJ High School wrestling is big, helps that we have a 1 champion per weight system here. I have been going to NJ States since I was a JR in HS (1985). I don't do all sessions anymore but I have hit at least one session since 1985.

I have been to 40 Nationals and St Louis is by far the best spot for it. I hope they would make it permanent like Omaha for the NCAA Baseball World Series

just speaking for me, I'm glad the NCAAs move around. The chances of me flying out to St Louis are pretty much nil, however I will be at MSG this year.

and as much as the heart of college wrestling is in Iowa and that part of the Mid West, there are a lot more schools and qualifiers from hometowns within a 2 hour drive to NYC than St Louis. not to mention flying into NYC is cheaper than flying to St Louis or somewhere even more remote like Iowa City.

I also disagree with the idea of making a permanent home for the event rather than forcing cities to compete for the right to host. I think that is key to guaranteeing a constantly improving product and experience for the fans.

nothing against the mid west states. Hopefully one day I'll catch some live wrestling out there. who knows, maybe for a Big Ten championship (to bring the thread back to the original post).

Cheaper flights to NY from where?St Louis is a central location and the city and hotels, bars, restraunts etc do a fantastic job having done it multiple times. No problem with NY but I will be curious to see what people have to say after the fact.

NYC has 3 airports, all of which are hubs for major airlines. St Louis is in a flyover state. it has nothing to do with centralized location and everything to do with number of flights going in and out of the airports. go look up fairs online if you don't believe me.

I've never been to St Louis and I doubt I ever will but I'm pretty sure NYC is an objectively better place to hold an event. of course everyone's milage may vary.

I have been to every tourney held at StLouis and flew out of Newark. It is a wonderful town and you get a week's Metro Pass so you can go anywhere with it, including from the airport to your hotel. The restaurants are great and weather is usually warmer than here.

Well I hope you dont come either as how would you handle a "flyover state"?BTW a good share of those going to Nationals drive and St Louis is the Delta hub.

wait, is hawkssox1 just another handle for RUCreedo? no way more than one person types that same way.

NYC is also within driving distance to far more wrestlers and schools than St Louis.

but whatever, no offense to St Louis. I'm glad they have wonderful restaurants. I'm sure I will regret never dining in one later in life.

I'm not this guy..trust me.I am not this RUGrappling98 or 89 guy either.Apparently this ruwarrior guy was beating himself in the head, with his "I failed my online detective course" book.Just because people do not want too spend their finite time talking about statistics, and want too add humor, doesn't mean there aren't similar writing styles.Email the moderator PhilaFan,and ask if we are the same person,if you don't believe me.I will say this though,I did wrestle for Rutgers.

The guy is just a db so ignore him.

It is me. I am the db. Look, this has gotten out of hand. I'm so sorry for everything I said about St Louis. I take it all back. I love St Louis. I'm going there on vacation next week. Nelly is my favorite rapper of all time.

I wasn't referring to you it was the post above yours but hey have a nice day.
You put my post in quotes..?? Ok,that's cool, let's stop these insults, because it just ends up turning out too what themat.com used too be.Plus,I really don't want to bash the good name of Rutgers Wrestling. It's taken so long for this program too solidify respect. If we are going throw verbal bombs at each other, then we let the program down as fans, alum, and general posters.Plus, alot of young kids come on here, and I don't want them too get a bad vibe about wrestling for Rutgers. It's a top flight academic institution, top ranked wrestling program,no need for negativity.

I have gone to the last 40 NCAAs and will continue to go to future ones wherever they are as long as I live. I happen to like St Louis as a venue.
