Yes, you would think kids that competitive wouldn't be satisfied with a backup or second backup role. They can stay and continue to benefit from the coaching and training, but what for? I don't think it's good for college wrestling for one team to have so many guys in reserve when they could be starting elsewhere and contributing to a more competitive field.
I haven't been following Bassett's list since he took a break from eliminations, but now I see he is down to 11 schools. He still has all the usual picks on his list, with just four falling outside those seven. Pitt-Johnston and Rutgers will be next if he continues on that path, followed by Arizona State and Va. Tech. If he keeps Rutgers, we will continue to scratch our heads with great anticipation. If, by some miracle, he chooses Rutgers and, in the best possible scenario, attracts Jax and maybe Melvin to follow, that will be something.
