Greatest concern is not that Flood will not be dismissed -
No, it is that, after much dithering and back & forth, Flood's departure will happen in about the worst way possible & suddenly, as the result of some random factor or ultimate on-or-off-field embarrassment that pushes things over the tipping point ... and the University will stand there slack-jawed & bewildered as to what the process moving forward should be.
Very concerned that it will play out with:
- no prior public relations plan - so no effort to shape the narrative - just let the media do it ...
- little to no preparation, no structured game plan for securing a carefully selected successor - no pre-existing 'short list'... no carefully thought out list of desired attributes, no list of phone numbers to call ... no prior 'back channel' discussions / interest inquiries with any prospects.
- no clarity as to who exactly will be the 'point person' for expediting this whole process
- no preparatory work done to pave the way through the Rutgers administrative bureaucracy
.... so... time would be required to move through search approval 'formalities'
..... and no prior work to neutralize potential obstructionists.
- wretched timing relative to the coaching candidate market & the recruiting process
- budget for coordinators & assistants entirely unresolved & unavailable for presentation to potential HCs
- a University President comprehensively incapable of articulating anything other than nebulous double speak about the University's commitment to the pursuit of championship caliber sports teams.
