Did the offensive coordinator throw a bad pass deep down the middle against a 2 high safety defense? In the end its about the players on the field playing hard and smart.
Was wondering is the OC missed an easy throw which would have been a TD on a slant from inside the 10 on the first drive.
You guys are pathetic trying to defend this guy. Sure those things aren’t his fault. Everything else is.
A double reverse play-call on Iowa (one of the most disciplined defenses in all of football) — should be a fireable offense
Not defending him, but just calling it like it is. Not sure what game you are watching. Simon is not accurate nor effective. The Iowa defense is damn good. Not sure how anyone can run an offense in that situation. The IC is not fumbling nor throwing INTs.

It's a balance between players and coaches obviously - maybe there's only so much you can do with our guys? I don't know what else to say. Our players are the ones that gave gifted them 14 pts. Play calling seems to be giving them a chance to execute and they just dont
I would have 100% agree with you, and have defended Gleeson for years — but any OC that would call a double reverse against Iowa just doesn’t know what he’s doing

Then you have a QB literally chucking a desperation ball downfield while he's falling backwards, and also missing an open red zone receiver who had a TD.
People can see why Vedral wasn't so bad.

The play calling against Temple sucked. The execution and mistakes against Iowa suck.
It was there. Langon was supposed to block the corner who made the tackle. But he has to peel back to help the tackle
The talent gap remains extraordinary. Rutgers doesn’t recruit difference makers or game changers. We are loaded with mid tier talent that sh*t their pants on the big stage. Having said that, combining that level of talent with an incompetent OC who is in over his head, is it any wonder why this team has scored only 3 offensive touchdowns in 3 games against FBS competition, and weak competition at that. One of those TDs was the result of a fumble inside the 10 yard line. The arc of this program is down, not up.
It was just a reverse. Why does everyone always add double to it? It was a run to the right REVERSED to the left.

bs, they weren't bigger stronger faster or better. our scheme put the first read into double coverage multiple times with option bring an additional defender into space. that alone should $hitcan gleeson.
lots of players whiffed on assignments. That's not talent, that's coaching and creating an atmosphere like other programs where the guy behind is pushing to start so you do your fking job
And that’s on Gleeson? I’m sorry but Schiano is still coaching in the Stone Age. He can’t recruit offensive players, he’s a horrific game day coach and set the program back 12 years when he bailed for a nonsense dream to coach in the pros. He couldn’t win the Big East outright for ****s sake. Dude ****ed this program over and until he realizes modern football you don’t play to not lose we will be below .500 every season until he decides to retire. It’s amazing how all the old farts here just eat out of the palm of his hand happy with a crappy team that was mediocre the first time he was here and even worse now.

It's a shame because if it was just a single reverse Aron had a lot of room to make something happen.
I am not a fan of firing coaches mid-season, especially as we don't have his replacement on staff. I would like GS to order him to the coaching box upstairs to get a better view of what the opponent is doing.

We had a ball thrown into double coverage taken to the house and an unfortunate fumble taken to the house.

Not to overstate the obvious but we've been firing offensive coordinators for almost 10 straight years.... Maybe it's not quite the magic bullet solution some of you think.

This program is just a baby, we aren’t in a position to unplug one coach and plug in another.
Give him the rest of the year, if we don't improve then fire him. Now focus on what went wrong.

Our primary problem is personnel quality, esp at QB. Until that is addressed it is difficult to accurately assess the quality of our coaching staff (although Cuse seems to be doing well without a bevy of 4 and 5 star players).

Amen... gotta stop with the player is the one who executes it.... the damn play is called by the OC and the offensive strategy is by the OC... They have the devise a scheme that adapts to the team they are playing, and be able to adjust during the game as necessary. And... he doesn't do that. He came in highly rated, and no he is overrated !!
This is like when people talk about having a certain amount of experience in years at their job.
Just because you’ve been doing something for 30-40 years doesn’t mean it’s good experience.
This program has essentially been a minor league program for much of its existence.
