We need Low risk High Reward! None on this thread except for the GW coach meet that criteria. Spend the money. We cannot afford ($$) another failure. Someone should do a study on how, financially, we have done going on the cheap. The ROI must be negative.
Based on the offer to Hurley, we are not looking to go on the cheap.[/QU
I am not sure if the offer was 1.5MM or 2MM. 1.5MM might be appropriate for Hurley. We will probably need to pay more that we are used to given the massive mistakes that have been made.
Scott Goodall was hired from Jackson HS, and has turned Rutgers Wrestling into a national power.

If it gets down to Cluess, I'd rather take a chance on Boyle.
Of all the reasons over the last 25 years of putrid BBall, scandals, and general ineptitude, I don't think the mere prospect of hiring a HS coach who can recruit and coach would be the defining reason for shutting it all down. We are rock bottom now - things can only get better. If we hire a high school coach (not to mention this one in particular) we should drop basketball. Hobbs may not end up with an exciting hire but he's not that stupid.

As someone alluded to in another thread, today would have been the day to announce hiring Boyle if he were
Agreed! Things are so bad right now, I don't see how any of the "top 3 choices" will be able to do much more than improve us to any more than middle of the road to mediocre. That just isn't good enough. I hope they take a chance on someone like Boyle. There is so much more potential upside, and we can't get any worse.Of all the reasons over the last 25 years of putrid BBall, scandals, and general ineptitude, I don't think the mere prospect of hiring a HS coach who can recruit and coach would be the defining reason for shutting it all down. We can always get worse. We've been saying we've hit rock bottom for over 20 years and we keep lowering the bar.As someone alluded to in another thread, today would have been the day to announce hiring Boyle if he were

My sentiments exactlywhy not. everything else we have tried has failed miserably.
Recruiting should be more than 50 % of a coaching staffs time .I would pay Boyle double his current salary to be the top recruiting assistant regardless who is hired as head coach.Rutgers must think differently and not just allow a new head coach to bring in some of his current assistant coaches who don't have a proven record of recruiting top tier recruits which Boyle has shown in high school.Following the same old strategy of hiring coaches has failed miserably at Rutgers.Yes,there are risks in such a approach but to me its worth the attempt just to break the cycle of futility surrounding the program.Boyle with a vet staff would be great or vise versa with boyle as top assistant
