Correct on the first part. I'm not sure about the second part, in as far as engineering the drama to take down Hobbs. If the people who need to approve Hobbs selection don't trust him to make the selection, they can just fire him without the drama.

Better than if it was just Schiano alone. It would show Schiano is unafraid and willing to try to work with other big-time coaches. It would also show that other big-time coaches are willing to work with him.
I have to say I'm intrigued by the news. Was the interview just part of the cover for hiring Schiano, if the rumors he's been hired are true? Are the rumors about Schiano false? Is Hobbs pushing back at big-donor pressure? Are the attacks on Hobbs in response to knowledge by big-donors of this upcoming interview?

If Jones comes in and starts making improvements, and starts winning, any donors who fled due to it not being Schiano that stay away are not the sort of donors RU needs.
I suspect they'd start donating again if they see progress. Otherwise, they're seriously self-absorbed assholes.

Don't let your admin hire him; he couldn't win at Tennessee, for goodness sakes. My top 2 teams - South Carolina and Rutgers - are very similar. The hire that will be successful is someone that won at a school that wasn't a traditional power. If they couldn't even win at a traditional power, they aren't going to win at Rutgers.
I am curious. How come we are not hearing more about coaches being interviewed? With some other schools (with different cultures and donors) you hear about each coach being interviewed or, at least, candidates coming out of the woodwork and going on record expressing interest. Because Jones is the only one we've heard about, does that mean that he's the only one who's gone on record or does that mean that Hobbs is doing a lot and not releasing any of that information publicly?
