Caleb’s head was not in the game last night.

The way he shoots the ball lately tells me he is having some aggravation with an injury. Looking like he’s trying not to pop a disk when he shoots a 3 the last few games. Hope he’s alright! Even if that he still is diving all over the floor and on that last jump ball play was critical and maybe won us the game. His effort is not questioned !

There must be a good party scene out there for the veterans.
If you remember correctly , geo played last year’s game at northwestern looking like he had been out all night. This board killed him for it

I see the exact same thing when he shoots, weird.

He played very well against Iowa. Just a bad game. He’ll be fine. And he still managed four rebounds and that put back rebound basket which was a big basket at the time.

He went through a stretch last year where he was short arming every shot. Seems like he's going through that again. Needs to find his confidence again.

Shooting form is completely off - the 2nd FT a game or two back has me really concerned. I don’t expect that to be corrected overnight.

The OP just joined yesterday and his posts are about his displeasure with individuals on the team. Regardless of the game, he was shitting on Mag. Now it's McConnell. Not sure what the agenda is, but every post is critical of the players. What gives? Is it a SHU fan here to stir the pot of chaos? Could it be a long-time RU poster expressing his or her true feelings?

I think the back injury hindered his 3 point shooting. I remember him having a sweet stroke his freshman year. It’s a shame because I think he would have nba potential if he could hit 3s at a solid clip.

agreed I said that to my daughter; I think it was a free throw in the Iowa game he barely hit the front of the rim and last night he is usually money on that midrange turn around shot

It’s extremely physically demanding playing Big Ten basketball for 5 years, especially with a history of injuries. Unless you’re Jordan Bohannon, then you can play for 8+.

Probably the same guy who was adamant Dean should start a couple weeks ago.

I am not being down on Caleb, just stated something that is true and said he will get back on track. You took it so far out of context lol

He played solid defense, prob not his best defensive game though. He just seemed tired throughout the game, stamina seemed off. He’s going to bounce back he is one of our streakiest players for sure.

He went down near the foul line at one point in the first half and looked labored getting up.

Could just be nagging aches and pains and fatigue. We're 12 days into the new year and they've already played 4 Big Ten slug fests. I

His defense looked fine. He’s a main cog. Nice that we are winning even when we don’t bring our “A” game. Wider margin of error these days. It doesn’t hurt, too, that Cam is money at the charity stripe. Threads like this are weak. It’s a team game and very unlikely that everyone on the floor can shine every night. Thrilled with the effort and results last night.

His shooting form has always been...strange. He is in an offensive funk just like last year. Hopefully it passes. Still does so many great things.

Caleb was +7 in plus/minus. Second only to Cam with +9. He is a monster and that number doesn’t show up on the pretty stat sheet but represents how important his lock-down defense is .. he got less steals etc? It’s because teams don’t even pass towards him because he’s so tight on his defender. He is so important to us

How in the world can you say what he posted was so extreme? Come on man. You're being way too sensitive.

Someone fell on his back under the basket either in Purdue or Maryland game and his shot and confidence has been altered despite his 6-8 against Iowa. I think he got hurt and the issue about his back has come back to roost along with the knee injury taking its toll. He used to have and at times this year , such as easy shot from 10-15 feet. It is aimed now and not shot effortlessly and we are seeing the inconsistent results.
It is also wearing him down defensively as he does so much that doesn’t appear on a stat sheet , taking away the other teams best player, not letting them catch the ball , jumping passing lanes , rotating on defense for a steal lot a contest. All the things Pike says are not on a stat sheet but things coaches treasure and this poster does as well.
Gotta get him healthy , reduce the pressure on him to play lights out defense every night , get his confidence back with maybe some post ups where he can bank in 10 foot jumpers . We need the tough and valuable Caleb without the mental lapses and loss of confidence Caleb we have seen over the last 3-4 games.

You guys do realize that he has been, by far, the streakiest player on the roster the last five years, right? He will be fine.
Who knows, but there are a lot of colds and flu around. He could have just been under the weather. He just seemed to lack energy last night, which is not normal for him even if he is shooting poorly.

Agree and he looked the same way vs Iowa.
