are both mentioned on the short list of potential candidates to take over at Paramus Catholic.

I heard it from a few people at the SPP-SJR play-off game last night and nj.com has them listed on a list of candidates too.

Is it common for college guys with job security to look at HS jobs? Even good HS jobs?

I bet Mike Teel is on that list for PC as well. Maybe Chet Parlevecchio as well.

Well if they know that changes will be made it surely is smart on their part to have a few feelers out there. Most people would do the same. Obviously just don't let the word get out if that really is what happened or once again is pure speculation by some folks.

I am certain there will be many more rumors etc out there this coming week and for sure if no decision on Flood is made by Dec 1.

No one is going from a college position to high school. Both of these guys will get jobs after Flood is gone.

Barthel has been shaking lots of HS trees in North Jersey, so I'm not so sure how in demand he'd be on another staff.

He was brought in here because of relationships with North Jersey studs that he trained. How'd that work out?

He's become the Chief Instagram Officer instead.

Didn't Chet leave NJ?

I also heard the Paramus HS coach and Eddie Stinson...which would be incredibly rich considering his stint at BC and his history with Hansen.

Rob Stern is also on nj.com's list, but I didn't hear his name last night.

I like Barthel.... But the sell is impossible

I don't disagree and have no issues with Barthel, per se.

But this is a performance driven business. The sole reason he got the job was his relationships. It hasn't worked out. He doesn't have the type of resume that is going to put him in high demand with another program at this point. The question becomes, is he putting feelers out because he feels HIS job is in jeopardy or because his boss' is?

Campanile has exactly delivered on the recruiting front and the lack of development amongst the receivers not named Caroo is noticeable as well.

Campanile might feel taking a HS position might mean more job security than working under Flood and not sure if he could land an assistant position with a major program.
Going back to the HS ranks as a HC might be better than waiting it out with Flood and not knowing if you'll be back.
Also , if Flood does return he might be forced to shake up his coaching staff and Anthony might not want to worry if he's going to make the cut or not if that happens

As for Barthel, he is Director of Recruiting not one of Flood's assistants, taking a HS head coaching position might help build his resume since he never has been an assistant at the college level.

I also don't see someone at the college level moving down to a HS position. Barthel, according to everything I've read, has done a great job getting kids to visit which is his job. Coaches still need to close the deal.

I don't feel neither of the 2 have exactly lived up to what the majority of us thought they would bring.......

Isn't Campanile a PC grad?

Yeah. His father was a pretty legendary HS coach there--at least as legendary as you can be with only winning 2 state titles.

he was running the run and shoot with Vito as the QB in the late 1980s. He would onside kick to open games. He wore those gray Bike coach's shorts in December. Total character.

Well....it's not like these guys have brought the "droves" of recruits we were told they would, when hired, by all the resident recruiting experts around here...lol.

Actually, I checked my archive of game notes and he transferred to Fair Lawn HS after his dad got fired (??). He was at PC for 3 years though.

I agree with this. I thought RU did a good thing assembling this staff for recruiting. And it worked in the sense that it got RU very close with a lot of the most coveted players in the state. But Flood has been an ineffective closer and his silly schtick with the pictures with recruits and the cheap suit of armor in his crappy office isn't working. Neither is this "family" stuff. Is it that remarkable that a bunch of college football players like each other? He'll never be able to attract the players he needs with this approach.

Both Campanile and Barthel are smart enough to know the writing is on the wall. They are not likely to be retained by our next head coach. Getting one of them into PC is good for Rutgers.
