If not,and we only get one more kid,who is interested in RU,who do you want?

Honestly it's hard to say with the roster not being completely done. With Sanders Freeman and Williams gone it'll be tough but Geo is more of a point guard than Sanders to me. Sanders was a scorer while Geo is a better passer and I think will make teammates better. Issa, Eugene and Kiss will improve the shooting %. Watching a bunch of highlights of Carter makes me excited him and Eugene could really click. Eugene is a great passer down low and Carter looks to be good 5 feet from the basket. Way too many games where Sanders and Freeman were too erratic and hurt the team. Sounds like Pike is high on Harper Jr as a shooter and could see Mathis being a slasher and can make his own offense. With Bullock and Mensah gone we should have more depth. The offense was bad this year and can see it being similar next year. It'll be a more offense by committee with Baker most likely leading the way. Baker was inconsistent which is expected as a freshmen and I think a lot of success will depend on him making the jump to lead the team

I believe we will have at least two new additions for next season. I doubt we would go into the season with only 11 scholarship players.

We will be a better team this year than last. Don’t underestimate chemistry. The guys here might not be talented, but I think they have heart and buy in 100% to their coach. Pikiell will not have th throw people out of practice this year. If there is an issue the players will deal with it.

This assumes I have a good read on our players.

I agree. Better team game. Better chemistry

No—not with the current roster, meaning no additions.

First thing we need to add is a guard who can handle under pressure.

If we play 32 games in a season maybe there are 7 to 8 when the light shine bright. That leaves 24 games where you play Iowa at home on Wednesday night in front of 3,000 people with a 9PM tip off OR Stony Brook in December on a cold Friday night.

Perhaps last year's team is the one you want in those 7 to 8 games.

Next years team will be more consistent and less explosive plays. Smarter with the ball, and will play team basketball.

The team will be better if they score far more than 60 points per game against B1G opponents. The team needs more scorers on the court at the same time.Failure to do so is more important than team chemistry.

No. Better OCC schedule and two more B1G games. Depth will be a big problem with no additions, especially at guard.

RU next year will be better than this past year.

10 dollar dogs and a free haircut at The Wright cut. That's the bet.

YES! Last year we only had 1 B1G quality starter, and he materialized towards the end of the season. You can attribute the wins to a good D, and coaching.
Next year we should have 3 B1G starters by mid season, and out of that group a few that can actually hit a decent percentage from the 3 point line. The D should also improve, with the length, and coaching is still there.
So, YES!

We lose 5 players with the loss of Corey, Deshawn, Mike, Sa and Souf, Bullock. We lose about 35 points a night with their departure.

We add Kiss, Myles, Mathis, Harper and Carter. All of our current players continue to improve in their development as well. The 5 guys we add are better than the 5 guys we lose. I know 2 of the 5 are true freshmen and are unknowns, but they can be called on to do as much as Souf and Bullock. I think the combo of Kiss-Myles-Carter and the rest of the roster improving will do more than Corey-Deshawn-Sa.

We'll make up that 35 points with the roster as it is currently constructed.

I think we can be .500 with one adequate point guard back up for 10 mpg and Geo doesn’t get hurt

this...we lost to Stony Brook and Hartford if anyone was paying attention...RU won 3 league games, if anyone was paying attention,. Yes we can reach the same or above next year for the reasons you just stated.

It’s about continuing to build the program and getting the experience with a real roster of talent from top to bottom. If we add McConnell and a grad transfer point guard, I think we will get bettter as the year progresses. Add massoud and Mulcahy and hopefully Hyatt and 2019 is a year we get back to post season. That could be the NIT but I’m okay with that.

You think we’re getting Mulcahy, Hyatt and Massoud? Personally, I’d say it’s very doubtful.

I’d be happy if we got one, ecstatic if we somehow got 2. All 3? Almost too much to bear.

I hope we get all three but you’re right that it’s a long shot. I think we’ve been doing a great job in recruiting them and can only dream.

Perhaps... but obviously last year's team wasn't the one we wanted in that last game you mentioned.

We blew our chance at a .500 record losing to Stony Brook & Hartford. I said that could happen at the time and many said it didn't mean anything that only the BIG games really meant anything. We needed to get to .500 to show real improvement. Hopefully with better chemistry and an improved attitude to take every team more seriously we can get a winning record but it will be difficult. We will play 20 BIG games and only 11 OOC games. Of those 11 we will be at Fordham, U Mass and Seton Hall plus probably away in the ACC-BIG Challenge. That will leave us with 7 other OOC games. One should be a home game in the Gavitt games. Who will the other 6 be against? We must win those six plus probably 3 of the other 5 to get to 9-2 in our OOC games. Than we would need to win at least 7 BIG games. It is possible but it will be difficult.

Unless we add two high quality big ten players. Meaning guys that would get minutes on other big ten teams we are looking at 10 wins. Chemistry is nowhere near enough to win in the big ten. Two to three big ten wins is our ceiling. If all we bring on are these juco guards we have been discussing on this board there is a real shot we won't win a big ten game.

I agree with everything except the last sentence.

Absolutely not at this point until we find out the 3 guys Coach is signing. Despite all of the crap posters on here said about Corey, we are going to miss him terribly. Corey never had a big guy who could catch and dunk the ball and he had sub par three point shooters he played with all 3 years . If he had either he would have averaged 7-10 assists per game . We have no one to handle full court pressure or even tight half court pressure to allow you to get into your offensive sets. Although I like the prospects of an improved Geo, Issa, Eugene, Mamadou, and Shaquille coming back, integrating 8 new guys is an almost impossible task . Coach has to figure out starters, rotations, minutes for the newbies and if there was one criticism of Coach last year was his insistence on Doucoure ‘s starting , when by the Big 10season, a lot of guys were calling for him to come off the bench, which he finally changed during the Big 10 tourney . Although the Big 10 is losing a lot of guys to the draft, the recruiting of all the other teams has been better than us until now, so their next man up should be better than ours, so I see a real struggle in the Big 10. As a season ticket holder who has waited forever to get a winning team back at the RAC, I think we struggle to win 10 games as much as it pains me to say it and to witness it next year.

Gee, we add Harper, Mathis, Carter, Johnson and Kiss. We lose Williams, Sanders and Freeman and also Souf and Bullock, who played in emergencies. When Corey was good (unfortunately not that often) he was very good. When he was bad, he occupied the ball, dribbled into trouble and shot under 25% from 3. Williams and Freeman worked hard and were effective at times. We add Mathis, Carter, Harper, Johnson and Kiss. We can expect Geo to really take hold after a year in which he was often our best player. He had played more minutes than any other B1G freshman as of very late in the season, and it wore on him. We should expect
continued improvement--and leadership--from him. Eugene is just finding out what he can do. Doucore reclassified to come on board and really should have been red shirted, but we already had a red shirt and a transfer, so he had to play. Think he will be improved. Don't know what to think about Thiam. Or Doorson. Would guess Doorson is emergency/mopup while Thiam will be given another opportunity to play, but am not optimistic about him.
The staff will fill out the roster, and even if the three they bring in don't make significant contributions, would expect the team to be better.
And have a better record. Next year even better since Doorson is the only senior.

Trading a home W for a road loss. :bomb:

That would be the expectation....gotta figure one likely "road" loss at the Rock (maybe 75% Hall and 25% RU fans) and hopefully no slip ups elsewhere is a plus 1 or 2 wins....Gotta figure the ACC B1G matchup will be a little easier than Miami and Florida State the last 2 years....

Fordham and UMass on road should likely keep the players attention more than flying high after upsetting Seton Hall and slipping vs Hartford/Stony.

Geo was never our best player. He had a number of very good games, especially for a freshman . He will be one of our best players going forward. In the games you say Corey struggled, how did the rest of the team do to pick him up? They didn’t ! Neither Geo or Mike or Issa or Eugene could bring their A game when Corey struggled and Deshawn might have done it once or twice. We won 1 game in the Big 10 when everybody had a good game (Iowa) and the other 4 when Corey led us to victory. Coach’s biggest and toughest job is to replace Corey. I think we will have to wait until 2019 and his getting Mulchahy for that to happen.

You are right--got carried away with some of the killer 3's Geo made and his hustle and smarts when he wasn't worn down from too many minutes and he wasn't ill.

To be truly successful in the B1G Rutgers needs multiple Sanders type players talent wise that are consistent game to game.
