Carli Lloyd on Highly Questionable yesterday

Anyone catch it? I was in a bar so I couldn't hear too much of what they were saying but she has come out with a new book. Sad to hear I guess she is estranged from her family. She didn't attend her sisters wedding and has no plans on inviting any of them to her wedding. I didn't hear the how o why but I guess this is some of what has motivated her to work that much harder. Either way its sad to hear about stuff like this.

A memoir from someone so young? Cha-ching! Hard to refuse the $ and the attention, I guess. I admire her athleticism and the visibility for RU. But I suppose she couldn’t wait for more life experience and insights until she told her "story." At some point, farther down the road, less would care to know her story. Fewer still would be willing to pay to know.

Very sad about the family Situation. Not sure how a father lets that happen which such a talented positive person.

Yep, ya gotta strike while the iron is hot. Right now, it's hot. The primary thing driving the sales of this book is the conflict with her family. Without that, there isn't as much of a pull to drive sales. But that, coupled with her success on the field, makes a more complete story. In ten years nobody will care about old news, especially since by then she might have grandkids and have reconciled with her parents. People love conflict, especially when it's someone else's. I hope the book does well just because of all the effort she put into it.

I thought she was married last year. Is that not the case?

Yes, she is married. Husband is a golf pro in NJ. Nice guy.
The estrangement is - without putting her business out there any more than it is - with her parents/siblings on one side, and Carli, her husband and her personal trainer/coach that saved her career on the other.
And yes, that's always a shame.

Carli Lloyd's family estrangement tale is a cautionary tale for parents who never want to stop parenting their kids when they become adults as well as for the kids who don't wanted to be parented into their 20s/30s and beyond. Something I will have to deal with in the 2020s.

Glad she is cashing in. Unfortunate circumstances but no question it helped fuel the competitive fire.
