Personally seemed to get a smile from James Gandofini as he walked by with a food services container with a dog and drink a few years before his death (Also saw him at a Springsteen benefit Christmas show in Asbury Park on 12/7/00?.

Gregory Hines was at a Rutgers-UMASS hoops game in the 1980s.

In a game I wasn't invited to, I know Piscataway Mike ran into Adam Duritz-the lead singer of "Counting Crows" at a Rutgers-Cal (Berkeley) Lady Knights basketball game at the RAC about 5-6? years ago. We had just seen the band at the Allentown Fair a year or two before.

In another stroke of "luck" (at the one Giants Stadium Springsteen show I missed back in 2009?) Piscataway Mike and some or our crew/pseudo crew were tailgating under the Rutgers flag when Bruce pulled up for a minute in his van before being mobbed.

Bruce pulled up to our tailgate outside Giants Stadium a few hours before his concert. Chatted for a min or so and we gave him a hot dog before a few people started to notice who was in the SUV and then he sped off to his entrance.

You were with Mike? If so I thought he was thinking "dog" but first asked for "guacamole" dip-and they had none (or it was heating up as were the dogs).

I may be wrong but I think he went to Louisville as a freshman. He hardly played all season, never got into that game and transfered out the next year. It was a romp (I think we scored over 50 points) and the kid still didn't get a chance. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Still that was Phil Simms I saw.

No. Should have been more clear but I'm at work typing on my phone. Memory is foggy but I think this was the non E Street Tour in 92-ish. He was definitely in a black SUV and not a van so was not when Mike saw him.

I don't remember Mike's details but similar. Dont think their hot dogs were done yet and BRUce asked whether they had any guac dip? It was a Saturday night-the only night I didn't attend. Went to church instead.

I see Rutgersal several times a year at football games. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more famous around here than anyone previously mentioned....

Only Rutgers got Jersey Power!

(i'm serious. i sit near him in the stands.)

When did we play against Matt Simms? I don't think we ever did.
Chris Simms (Texas) not Matt. His Frosh yr. Major Applewhyte was the starter; Simms came in at the end and was throwing even though they were winning 50-0 or something. I'm pretty sure Raheem Orr and Ryan Neil sacked him on consecutive plays to end the game. Gave us something to cheer about.

Phil Simms...same as above. His hood on his NorthFace was on while standing trying to keep warm. Still recognized him.
