Celebrities you saw at Rutgers games

Sat right next to me at the second game he attended. Was pretty cool, checking his phone much of the time and hanging with his three buddies and laughing. Pretty sure he's friends with Myles Mack's family.

James Bailey (got to speak with him--super nice guy).

Karl-Anthony Towns (got to speak with him, especially since he was there with his dad and his dad and I knew each other from high school).

Alan Houston (spoke briefly with him, as he was there scouting the guard from tOSU a couple of years ago and he was near my seats--really nice guy).

I met Bailey at a Rutgers job fair. I was the only one who recognized him. Cordial not overly friendly and I didn't hear from his company- so much for my Rutgers degrees and volunteer work with the Court Club.

This post... I feel like you are someone who would truly understand me. Thanks for being on my wavelength.

Tex Cobb used to stand on the Temple sidelines for quite a few games, one of them being the monsoon game.

Like? Frankly it's not even a sexist comment. If Ray was your wife she: 1)Has her own incredible career that just happens to be cooking; 2)incredible cheerleader like personality and 3) is a hottie .I guess the only worry would be like the Seinfeld episode with the girlfriend massuse-she'd be to tired from the sex or day job to cook!

Phil was given a huge area in the front of the yellow lot. It was roped off to reserve for his group. At least his kid got in the game. Too bad he was quickly shalacked by the defense (Ryan Neil? I forget).

Adam Duritz also made it to football and women's basketball games.
That was the Texas game when Chris came in and got sacked and I am not sure Phil was there but his family was. I was at that tailgate and he was not given that space, the Market Basket got there early with a big truck and took the front corner.

The game Colbert was referring to was the Louisville game where Teel went off. Matt was behind Teel at Bosco and on that day he got to see Teel play his best game ever. I don't think Matt got in but he hung around the NFL longer than Chris did I believe. Chris had the serious spleen injury.

On second thought I remember the weather being very mild when Teel threw for 7 TD's even though it was early December. Maybe it got cold late in the game?

They were at least given a pass and allowed to set up many banquet tables with food warmers, etc, for their buffet. Whether it was them or their caterers arriving first is semantics. It was the Simms tailgate and it took up a huge area in the front of Yellow.

Waited on Bill Belichick and family after a RU game at a restaurant in Piscataway. Ran into Doug Flutie in the elevator at the Rogers Center after the International Bowl. Flutie was tanked.

See Keith Hamilton at the games almost every week.

Chris Christie on a Thursday night right after he was elected. I think it was the USF game that made us bowl eligible. It was on the buffet line. Also met the cast of the Apprentice when they did a challenge in one of the lots prior to a game.

He was no doubt wearing a Notre Dame sweatshirt and elbowing his way to the front of the buffet line. ;)

I met Brandon Jacobs in the concourse during halftime of the 2008 Rutgers / #2 USF game. I told him to kick some ass this season for the Giants.

There was light rain, but it wasn't bitterly cold (for a December night game).
Did Lil' Jovi perform on this day?
That game was actually his debut. A decent portion of the crowd had left because of the weather. I wasn't paying much attention during a TV timeout and all of a sudden the stadium just got louder and louder. It took me awhile to look at the big screen and see him.

IMHO, it was easily one of the top ten loudest moments at a game in the last 20 years. I think it was the acoustical combination of only die hard fans sticking around and sound bouncing hard off empty metal seats.

Why doesn't the administration try to get Bruce to show up to stuff? Seems like having the most prominent new jerseyan take a picture with our team wearing Rutgers gear would be a great piece of marketing.

Bruce is way too much of a uber jerk to ever do anything for RU.

This from a guy who couldn't get into Brookdale JUCO academically out of HS but spends lots of time telling us what our values and politics should be.

Bon Jovi = Yes

Bruce = No Way

It was a large group from North Jersey, most of which came to see Simms but there were a handful of former RU players at the tailgate. That is where they got the parking pass.

Back then one pass did not equal one spot like it does today. Yellow spots were easy to get and everyone had plenty of space. So yeah, I guess you can call it semantics.

If you don't mind me asking, which restaurant?

Charlie Browns... funny story--- was a busy Sat night we were on a wait. My buddy goes, dude that guy looks like Bill Belichick... so I turn around and realize... THAT IS Bill Belichick. He had a total of 6-7 people in his party, so they got seated at a bigger table that we had open. One lady who was also waiting for a table freaked out on the manager because Belichick got sat first "HE IS GETTING SPECIAL TREATMENT"... when in reality it was just because he was with a larger party.

He was just as you would imagine... quiet, cold and not sociable at all. His wife and son and their friends were very personable. At one point a young kid came up and asked him for his autograph....Belichick turned him away.... ended up tipping about 30%.

Not mentioned already:
Frank and Kelly Tripucka attending ND game at RAC. Of course, Frank''s #18 was retired by Broncos and then unretired for Peyton Manning.

Red Auerbach used to broadcast games from RAC in '80s.

Joe Paterno at 1989 A-10 Championship.

Michael Strahan was on sideline at Louisville game in 2012 I think.

Click U Chicken 1992 Pitt night game.

Some RU alum jeopardy champion at UConn game at RAC.

I didn't see but about 7-8 years? ago one of R pseudo crew who sits 10 seats or so down from me in section 125 had a former "Amazing Race" contestant right by him. If you can remember 7-10 years ago there was a guy couldn't dance to save his life. BELieve his tandem was thrown out because they couldn't complete the challenge.

NOW that I remember back around 2001-2003 Gervase from the incredible Season 1 from "Survivor" hosted and was stupidly paid a lot of money to host MidKnight Madness. The not so funny thing was that NOBODY knew who he was or seemed to be watching the show.

TRUe to Rutgers Athletic Administraton form I went to get an autograph post show and ran into Ramona Gray-the other black contestant from season 1. If you remember Ramona drank a chunk of sea water jumping off the raft and was seemingly sick her whole time there. She was also known for trying to eat burnt rat-said "The rat tastes like chicken!".

In turns out Ramona is from NJ (works/ed for Merck) and I believe knew Vivian Stringer if she wasn't an alum. Ramona told me she used to practice with Stringer's Final 4 team.
Frankly she would have probably hosted Midknight Madness" for free.

After saying hello to Ramona at best Gervase takes off. Ramona could not have been a nicer person or rep for the show. I took a picture with her (nobody could ever identify her) now lost with most of my stuff. Ditto a special bandana I had purchased on eBay.
Ramona thought me having the bandanna (now they sell them via CBS Store) was a hoot and signed it "The rat DID NOT taste like chicken!"

Nuts tailgated with Jenn Sterger before the RU_Ville game in 2006

Has you all beat !

Her, her father, and another "FSU Cowgirl"/playboy pictorial chica, Alison (from Lodi, IIRC), all sat with us the entire 2nd half of the game, as well.

She tailgated with us for the 2007 USF game but sat in the USF section (she's from Tampa and originally went to USF IIRC).

Bruce used to wear RU gear to his gym all the time. My cousin, who was at RU at the time, worked their one summer and got to know him pretty well. Despite not sending his kids to RU - as many of NJ's wealthy are guilty of - he does follow the football program.

I don't know why people make shit up and/or assume shit. Freakin' hysterical.

What has Bruce ever ever done for RU other than your unproven claim that he " follows the football program ? "

You're too much:

- he owes Rutgers nothing. Just because he hasn't "done something" for us doesn't mean he can't be a fan. What an IDIOTIC statement.

- I have no reason to lie. Actually brought it up back when she was working there, IIRC from about 2004-2007, several times. Really couldn't give 2 shits if YOU believe me, anyway, lol...

You are right when you say Bruce owes RU nothing, and that he has done nothing for RU.

And you're right again when you say I don't believe you.

Because I honestly don't believe you, ha !
