Chop for Change back of helmet?

It means they are looking for change in the pockets to help pay for people to play football for RU. So I guess it should say Change For Chop.

I believe it was a progressive social change message or something that HC Schiano started.

Hence the sparky responses you received.
Probably. Some Badger football players don’t agree obviously

Leftist Icons Cal and Stanford always suck in football too. Maybe this is what Rutgers aspires to be, since the Princeton experiment failed.

Yeah, the past and present have been so fabulous, let’s not try to improve. It can apply to everything, including the football team.

I “googled” it and disagree totally with its context. If Rutgers aspires to be the Cal Berkeley of the east social justice warriors, well good luck with that, don’t expect to have winning athletics. Enjoy your picnic in the parking lot.

This stems from the recent killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Mn. by police which was followed by protests and riots all across the country -- including peaceful ones in Newark and Camden, N.J.

Oh dear god.

Whether you or I or anyone else agrees with it or not, It's literally been on their helmets for 4 years.

Last July 4 in Chicago 109 people were shot with 19 killed.
Not many people of any demo cared much - the lives didn't matter in big picture
Most "change" is for the worse as enablers hide true causes and shift blame while hiding behind slogans

Big Ten warmup unis had things like STOP HATE prominently shown the past three years. If you asked one of the hoopsters, they coudn't tell you where the hate is. CHOP was equivication as the Rutgers football haters wanted Sciano to make a statement so he went with this vague tip of the hat to social justice. Its time to stop. The NFL is sick with this stuff. To see the endzones in London this Sunday with END RACISM.
and Stop Hate on some players' helmets was disgraceful. Go Woke. Go Broke.

It’s a political statement . There were some fans here that said they would be done with the program if they ever made political statements. Those fans are still here
This topic is fair game on this board since it’s part of the team uniform .

Most Rutgers fans are against racism. I am against racism. How about you @leftoright ?

Completely expected. OP came here with an agenda. If you look at the original post and subsequent posts by the OP, it’s obvious.
What agenda ? If it’s part of the uniform then it’s fair game to discuss the meaning and origins of it being part of the uniform.

I feel a little dumb for falling for it and providing an actual response earlier in the thread.

As @MrsScrew said earlier it’s been there for 4 years.
Unless you are a new fan, you know what it’s about.

New thread “Why are there flags with 1766 on them in the parking lot? What’s that about?”

I don’t think every fan knows . And even if they do, what it’s not supposed to be discussed is ever again ?

CHANGE is one of those magic words.. like PROGRESS.. Change to.. what? Progress towards.. what? On its own "Chop for Change" is a painless bromide, I guess. Better than more specific, but more misleading, messages.

Love how people get triggered
My take for this and complaints about 3rd down Joe Nolan announcer issues is that these are just a distraction given the serious issues revealed in that loss.. and really.. the last 3 games. It like we can discuss/complain about stuff thaty seems capable of being controlled rather than what cannot.

@leftoright

Hasn't gotten back to me on whether he is against racism. He's prolly sucking his thumb in mom's basement right now waiting for his breakfast.
I agree, racism exits, current affirmative action says so. I don’t live in this little bubble 24/7

A recent Supreme Court ruling has ruled this as unconstitutional. Take me to court Rutgers

Rutgers wants to go there, why be political? NIL is here, cutting off half of its donors, forever in mediocrity. Uber liberal faculty, state government prevents autocracy. Rutgers doesn’t get it and never will.

Back of helmet non-PC suggestions: Scarlet Knights, Chop, New Jersey
