Chris Ash to Notre Dame…done deal

LXzQUs0.jpeg

Only $40

Everyone gets on Ash and Rutgers for losing 78-0. That was more Jim Harbaugh being an insufferable asshole than Chris Ash being hapless.

56-0 shows you are hapless.
78-0 shows the other coach is a dickhead.
The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

He sucked here. It is what it is. But he seems like a decent guy. Never want solid dudes to fail. That’s bad karma.

Good luck, coach.

Actually there were multiple accounts (one is provided above) that he was not a nice guy - that he was an arrogant, dismissive douchebag.

I personally know someone who had two different conversations with him at events and came away with that very same impression

It’s one thing to be utterly incompetent but to be arrogant and dismissive at the same time?!?

It’s a good thing I hate notre dame - they deserve that d#ckhead

Bill Parcells said that an important part of his job was "coaching the coaches."
For me that's a factor in hiring HCs - are they a "coach the coaches" type?
I'm not automatically impressed by coordinators of successful teams
Clearly some college admins (who probably dont know football) are.

Dunleavy lol

Ash will get the Irish Smashed

Truer words were never spoken :YesNo
"but I believe we will be posting a lot of 'ash will get us smashed ' on this board in years to come .:DeadHorse: :BeatDeadHorse:

People loved the mehringer hire here . And some people think kill did a good job

Mehringer hire was good in theory.
HC Ash just got too scared and turned defensive coach meathead after 1 year.
Look up "throw the baby out with the bathwater" and you'll see a picture of HC Ash.

OC Kill was a disaster in both theory and results. Lots of people think lots of things. Doesn't make them right.
Shockingly followed by an even worse hire in OC McNulty (which is hard to believe).

Mehringer was a horrible hire in that we did not have the personal to run his offense and he tried to do it anyway. Killed the defense with all the 3 and outs. He’s a big part of why we were blown out so much.

Wrong.
First off - your premise has nothing to do with the Mehringer hire.
It's an argument against a change in offensive philosophy.

If we were a losing team under Flood with an ineffective offense, why would we keep running it back and stay with the same philosophy?

You are advocating to keep an offense because it suits players who were losing games and not executing.
Players that many said needed to be recruited over.

Changes takes time. Condition the players. Recruit new players. New plays. New terms.
The sooner you commit to the change the sooner you'll get through the growing pains and come out the other side.

This adverse reaction to change is why our offenses never evolved with the rest of CFB elite. Or even CFB non elites who used offense to jump up and win over their expectations.
"Well we tried it for 1 year with a roster and players that weren't a fit. It didn't immediately work so let's go back to a meathead offense. So what if that has failed many more years. We'll just ignore that."

Is the premise that we were somehow winning 8 games if we didnt try to change the offense?
Like all those other years we had a great offense?

That's why HC Ash was a failure. He started down a path to change then abruptly turned back after only 1 year.

Furthermore, did OC Kill and OC McNulty have offenses more suited to current players?
How did those offenses work out?

Jerry Kill is an underappreciated offensive genius.
He needed a Diego Pavia. Look what kill did with Vanderbilt this year. He beat Alabama.
He had Tylin Oden and Laviano.
