If RU beats Minnesota on Sunday, don't we finish 11th.
Isn't that good enough for an invite to the College Basketball Crown?

Top 2 from big ten that don’t make ncaa will go to crown.
Last time I looked the criteria was basically multiple criteria. Which puts us behind at least Nebraska, assuming they win this weekend.
But if we beat Minny then win 2 in conference tourney…I think it will be hard not to be selected.

I think we'd be behind Indiana, not Nebraska, according to https://bball.notnothing.net/bracket.php?conf=big10m

call me the eternal optimist but i’ve already booked the trip and rooms at the MGM. Staying there and having a basketball tournament in the same building is amazing. Players always milling around the food court.

I was counting on Indiana making the big dance. Nebraska not.
The bracketologists I’ve seen have Nebraska wayyyyyyy closer to making the big dance than us. That’s all I was going on.
Meaning: they’re not talking next 2 according to Big Ten standings. It will be multiple criteria/rankings.

Would we even go? Would anyone even care? It’s not like we’re building for next season when our top two scorers will be gone along with probably a good chunk of the remaining players.
Yasss that time of of year where middle age or older dudes who sit at home and never sniffed completion near this level get to comment on what the kids who actually play in the games and put in all the hard should decide when it comes to any type of postseason. This also comes around at bowl time like clock work. Hey Zack and Tyson you may never play another game but turn down any chance to keep playing the game you have given your young life to because some dude with a message board handle thinks you should.

Yeah, Torvik has Indiana as second of the first teams out, I think Nebraska is 6th. RU is pretty near the bottom with quite a few teams above us.

IIRC the top 2 from the B1G, Big 12 and Big East all automatically qualify. Then 10 other at-large teams are invited. RU can still make this tournament as an at-large. That said, this one starts much later (March 31st) so Ace & Dylan may opt out because of draft prep.

Interesting. Glad to know they are all in. Sometimes, you can’t tell with this team.

yes if they are the second highest Big Ten team available standings wise they still go. And I say we should go even if Ace and Dylan opt out. Give the other guys one last shot. It would only be one more loss
If it's based on NET rankings RU probably won't be going.

Just seems embarrassing with a losing record. Plus we may only have 3-4 guys back next year. Is there money per team with this one like Vegas in Nov?

Why is it any more embarrassing at 15-17 or 16-17 than it would be at 17-16? Why are you guys so easily embarrassed? Is it like left over trauma from being picked on in elementary school or something?

come on man. everyone wants more money whether they need it or not. why is bill b coaching unc? mahomes doing wendy’s commercials? brady on fox?

Agreed - though I don’t think Bill wants to do anything other than coach football. The man’s wardrobe can be had at Walmart for the less a hundred bucks.

The money is like 10k per player from what I read, not to the school but to the players, that’s significant to most. It is also a fox sports created tv event. That’s why their conference affiliations have 6 of 16 guaranteed spots. Big Ten Big East and then Big 12. 10 other spots are at large, but I’m sure preference will be given to a team like RU assuming they’d have 2 stars for TV attention in Ace and Dylan

The schedule of games is a bit odd, they don’t start until 3/31. So it’s almost 2 weeks off. And then they play that week before final four, with their own final four also playing on Final Four Saturday early right before the NCAA final four tips at 630. Then the championship game is smartly scheduled for that Sunday before Monday’s national championship ncaa game

The question is…it’s a looooong layoff from the end of the big ten tourney and the start of the
Tourney. Will there be non participants between nba declarations or players entering the portal ????

It’s called a winning record v a losing record for a reason. Is there a difference if you play a game and score one or two less than your opponent compared to if you score one more point? Also, the fact that we’re having this convo with what we expected this year to be is also embarrassing.

With that schedule, if you squint really hard and take enough shrooms, you just might be able to imagine that it's Rutgers in the real Final Four!

The bigger problem is the portal opens on March 24th. The day after the first weekend of March Madness. The Crown doesn't start until March 31st and goes through April 6th. We'd be putting ourselves behind the eight ball in an incredibly important off-season

What most expected. Heck there was even some Final Four or Busts. I was suggesting back in the fall that this team wasn’t that good and was getting ridiculed for it. But back in Oct Nov most (if not almost all) thought an ncaa berth was assured. So yes, what “we” expected as a collective fan base.

Does a team like Nebraska, not making their own conference tourny, affect these post season invites?

Seems like they just twiddle their thumbs for a week hoping they get an invite somewhere or just get a disappointing season is over realization.

im more embarassed we couldnt cobble together 17-19 wins like ohio state and indiana managed to and likely to get in

ohio state is probably playing a win and in lose and out game against iowa wednesday but the bubble as always turned out to be soft as a babys bottom
