Congrats coach

Looks like Eddie is starting to make his mark recruiting wise and his staff is doing a good job too in getting what RU MBB needs to improve as a program.

I still see that moment where Coach was all choked up tears in the eyes for Rutgers.... I like to win. We all like to win. Sometimes you win just by surrounding yourself with the right people. Eddie is the right people. He's bringing in his kind of people. This is, and should be, what Rutgers is all about.

Just posted the quoted section below on the thread on the football board. I've been a huge fan of the Jordan hire from Day One and haven't bailed on him because it was obvious what an absolute mess and embarrassment this program had become under Hill and then, especially Rice.

"It's been a long, long time, since I got really excited about RU hoops - not since the Waters era, really, and even that didn't quite pan out (but at least we were competitive and had that great NIT run). I've never pulled harder for an RU coach than for Jordan: he bleeds scarlet, had a very successful career in the NBA, and has come home to try to resurrect this seemingly snake-bitten program from the depths of embarrassment it was left in by Mike Rice.

Cautiously optimistic and glad we held on to our tickets. For anyone who doubts how much Coach Jordan cares about turning this around, just watch the video of his post-game interview after the huge win against Wisconsin last year."

Honestly did not feel like Eddie would get it done. The past few months have changed my mind. Keep it up Eddie.

Never want to place any sort of milestone on any one recruit because there's a lot more left on the board for 2016 that's needed. The turning of the tide that essentially raised my eyebrows was the landing of Freeman and the almost landing of a couple of other kids that actually didn't pick RU last year.

It's not necessarily a need to always get your first choice BUT you have to give credit where it's due and in the last 6+ months, RU and the staff outlasted and outworked a bunch of other major programs for Freeman and now Parker. That overcame a lot of discouragement from kids wanting to take visits and when those kids took visits, people wanted to cave in and give up. Fortunately, RU and the staff didn't cave in and kept working on it.

That doesn't mean RU is printing NCAA tickets in a year or two but what it does signal is a chance that RU can refocus their efforts on keeping Parker in the fold until fall signing period and fans can know that while walking around the RU stadium in September and October for home games vs Kansas, Washington State or potentially Michigan State in football, there will be more hoops kids on official or unofficial visits. \

When you have an environment like our home games for football, it gives RU hoops a chance.....You get a chance to land a Jenkins and Ahmed as a 4 year player and a 2 year JUCO and then find another piece and suddenly you may have a ton of momentum. It's not far fetched at all to get the RAC back and having a complimentary environment to football home games.

I think RU has a lot to offer and kids are starting to see the future of the school. It's never going to be revamped instantly, but with each kid landed, RU improves itself step by step.

Parker is an potential game changing recruit on and off the court. He has a chance to play a lot of minutes and play through his mistakes with a fan base that will be happy he's here. There are rare times when a decision appears to be a good match and Parker brings confidence to a program and fan base looking for a spark to compliment the confidence and swagger that Sanders will bring to the table.

I am not saying these kids are cant miss (Freeman, Sanders and Parker), but there is a legitimate amount of confidence our staff should start to carry on the recruiting trail. They can start to build on Freeman, Sanders, Parker and look back at the 2014 kids landed as well, knowing they are also a part of the puzzle as well.

If there is any time to give a staff credit, it's now. That means something because I've been critical of the staff on game management, rotations and overall approach to using their bench. A lot of those items should go away this year and if you can get more kids in 2016 at Parker's level, RU will have potentially turned a corner.

September and October fall weekend visits folks should really jump start things for the remainder of 2016 class and 2017 as well. Look for some interesting names to start to appear and get excited about.

Real time to give Jordan and staff some credit.....can they build on this and get more pieces....I think they will.

Congrats to Eddie as well as all of our coaches. I think Van was our lead recruiter on Kwe.

EJ is a Loyal Son to the core and I've believed he'll get it done here since the day he was hired.

TERRIFIC job, Fast Eddie and staff! You WILL make the magic happen once again on the RU basketball court!

Great post, Hawk. I've posted a few times here that the Freeman get changed my view of this staff recruiting wise. This hammers home that our staff is legit

Put it this way...I remember when Parker's name first surfaced, most people said we were happy to just be mentioned. Now he is committed

Amazing

Great job Eddie and Co!!

Yes. our staff has been getting it done. It wasn't long ago that SHU fans were laughing at our hiring of Shoes. Just think how he, Van and Eddie have now been making progress. It is really nice to see.

great post NJH..for the 1st time in 4+ years there is hope. Nothing guaranteed, but on paper we have pieces. Jordan and co. still have to show they can coach and lead, but it is a lot easier with quality and quantity of talent.

FIG....a positive post from you. You okay? Maybe you should take your temperature.

Seriously.....It's strange how better talent and more athletic players make coaches look good. It's all about better players and recruiting. Unless you are Larry Brown....that guy is an amazing defensive coach with lesser talent.

Don't forget Dalip, he's been working hard too.

Love this commit; hoping the recruiting momentum continues.

Maybe it's now our turn to do our part?

Thanks
