In what turned out to be every bit as close as anticipated, Richard Kent - @RU72 edged out beloved podcaster Mike Broadbent - @mb5789 by just 3 votes in our closest vote of the entire Elite 8
With Richard somehow falling to a 6 seed - he won his first 2 matchups in landslide fashion but looked to be in trouble against 4 seed Broadbent, who narrowly grinded out his 2 victories.
Posting some "elite" content in the 3 days leading up to the final countdown, @RU72 was able to overcome an initial 10-2 burst by Broadbent and only pulled ahead on Thursday. With just hours to go and a 8 vote lead looking secure, Rutgers got a surprise commitment from Kevin Levy and the late money started to hit the money line on @mb5789 as a last second podcast seemed imminent but it was not to be and Richard hung on by the slimmest of margins
Should be a fun but awkward Podcast the next time these 2 champions get together - I am hoping Richard pays homeage to his closest competitor perhaps by donning a backwards Eagles cap, but Richard wearing any hat backwards would be a grand enough gesture
