Corey’s first game was last night

He can still get his degree. Corey tried to leave every season. He has a kid and needed to make money. If a law firm tried to hire me after my sophomore year of college, I would have left.

People on here are f'ing dicks. It's not Pike's fault Corey left, it's just life. Maybe go get a life of your own and stop second guessing everyone else like this.

And @RUsojo , you're one of the most miserable people i've ever seen on this site and that is saying something.

Mic drop.

Oh my lord. Can we stop with the discussion on Pike Corey degree blah blah blah and someone post links to his stats in the Siberia/Georgia/Armenia/Kazakstan league.

Wish him the best and much success.

You guys are so soft. I do know what I’m talking FWIW.

Soft LOL. Im guessing its more difficult to uproot to Serbia to chase a dream than anything you've done in your life. But try and keep up the charade that you know anything about anything....it hasn't fooled anyone here yet.....all you've done is convince people what an ahole you are.

Corey wanted to leave for several years and finally left....Pike moved on......fvckn deal with it and stop biching about it and poining fingers like a whiney little kid.

Found the website for mega basket, but it shows they are in Belgrade. He must have just signed. Maybe Smitty can post a link, or say where he got the info.

Gonna stay out of the sniping between Sojo and his antagonists, except to remind the veteran posters about the annual will he or won't he about Quincy Douby, who was always considering transferring to Louisville. And then, be decided he would fare better in the NBA as a PG, or at least having PG experience, so he wanted GW to play him at PG if he came back. QD's career was always about QD

Corey was a good player and played great in the BET at MSG. However he had more than a few games that were complete duds. He only scored 6 against Michigan State at home in a game we could have won. He was terrible scoring zero against Penn State. He also scored only 6 vs. Maryland, 8 vs Stony Brook and 8 vs. Purdue. His shooting from the field was often poor and the ball was in his hands way too much. I hope he does great as a pro but the drama of whether he would stay or leave was too much for all 3 years.

Sojo, clueless people seek you out just so they can feel smart and savvy just by standing next to you.

You’re funny. That’s what you wanted to hear right?

From a college basketball standpoint you just need to face the facts. Of course there’s a human element. I get that and hope everything works out for Corey. But that doesn’t mean Pike gets off the hook. FWIW I still believe Pike gets it done because he should actually recruit well in 2020.

Off the hook? For every player that leaves early in football and basketball and doesn't make the NFL or the NBA, are you going to blame their coach? That's a long list, huh? Or are you just going to blame Pike?

Sorry but don’t have a link
Corey and my daughter’s boyfriend are friends....got the stats directly from Corey

I would have to think that's because he played tons of minutes from the get go, and the ball was always in his hands. He certainly wasn't a pass first, make your teammates better type guard.
Unfair. He played with the teammates he was dealt and have them and the team better...

No I do and I agree with you. But obviously his decision is the wrong one form a value proposition. Pikes job is to get through to him and his family what we all saw coming.

I feel bad for Corey Pike wasnt able to get through to him and made it even easier for him to leave us if what some allege Pikiell offered is true (I don’t believe that though because it would be a display of gross incompetence).
RU kidding me he fought to keep him on the team for 2 yrs. The kid wamted to get out of school for personal reasons none of which are any of your business

If he keeps those kind of #'s coming...he may be headed to an NBA team.

17 assists! that means 17 baskets 34 + points. when corey played here no one could get 17 assists, we had no shooters and still dont

Poor shooting might, at absolute most, knock a 1/2 assist off a per game average.

I just don't get the love for a guy who led his team to a total of 7 B1G wins (2.33 per year). Had multiple suspensions and team violations and shot 36% from the floor in B1G play and led an offense ranked in the high 200s.

We will see how many wins we get this year without him.

Is there a site out there that evaluates the various foreign leagues (and maybe the G League and other domestic leagues) relative to one another?

Given last years 2 games sandwiched around the break were Stony Brook and Hartford not a good argument

4-14 and 8 points in 39 minutes vs SB
Hartford he played great, but didnt start because he missed his plane
Yes, but did I make my point or did you? Not sure we win more w/o him. Guess we’ll see rest of the way.

We have 18 games left and I'd like to believe we have narrowed the gap from us and the rest of the pack. The advanced statistics support that too.

Gun to my head we finish 5-15.

Fun thought experiment: Switch the FDU and Drexel games with the Columbia and Maine games.

We'd have people booking Sweet 16 tickets.

We technically went 5-16 in Big Ten games last year if you include the tournament. 5-15 is very doable... even though the league is better our schedule isn't awful. There are five Big Ten teams in the KenPom Top 25: Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin. From here on out, we only have four games against those five teams: @Purdue, vNebraska, vMichigan, @MichSt.

Penn State has eight (!) games left against those five opponents. Illinois has six such games remaining, Northwestern has five. Even Iowa, who also played Wisconsin and MSU in the December games, has six games left against those teams.

Not that playing Ohio State and Maryland and Indiana (who are ranked 21-35) is a picnic but we have just about as favorable a schedule as you can have in the Big Ten the rest of the way.

3 or fewer wins is a disaster.

4 wins is eh, okay.

5 wins is about what I expect.

6 wins is a pleasant surprise.

7 or more wins would be a great year relative to expectations.

maybe we would have won more without him...
It's interesting to see the sorts of things that fans can muse into existence from the internet. Here, for instance, it resulted in a bad team winning more games by not having its best player.

But, you see, what that would have had happen was . . . . So they would have maybe won more. You see.

Ok.

How do you think Corey fared the past 2 years against Maryland? Go check the 3 box scores and report what you find.

43% on three-pointers confirms there's a hex that causes poor shooting whenever anyone suits up for Rutgers.

If you read the article, those "averages" are based on just the one game. He had a great night: 36 pts, 4 rbs, 4 ast, and was 3/7 (42.8%) from three point range. It also said he was 92.3% from 2pt range, which would mean he went 12/13 from inside the arc and had 3 made FTs.
