Corey Sanders: Exceptional

Saying Corey isn't NBA ready doesn't mean we are "haters". He has been outstanding in recent games but he needs to demonstrate that he can do this on a regular basis against this type of quality opponent to show he can play at that level. The difference between the good and the great is not how well they can play but how consistently they bring their A game to the floor. he has to demonstrate that and I sure as hell hope he does.

Second half today was the best he's ever played. Might have been his best game I've seen him play, even with a couple def breakdowns and the TO's. If he can continue to play under control on offense he could make a big difference for this team.

Waiting for Greene Rice FIG to tell us why he played terrible...

I don't think you have been reading what I have been saying about Corey lately.

Defense has been phenomenal.
With the exception of 1 game he has let the offense come to him.
It has been about winning.
Today he made perimeter shots.

He dug real deep and played with a lot of heart.

For those who don't think he is the point guard.....he is the guy who is the extension of Pikiell.

Enuff said. The haters can shove it.

And Corey Sanders has so many Rutgers fans that are haters that is amazing.

Sanders is picking his spots. He drives when it is there and stops for the pullup jumper when the drive is not there...exactly what he should do. I still think his pullup or step back mid range jumper is his best shot.

Sanders had a great game and it's 2 page thread....If the topic was Sanders is not an NBA player and it's a 10 page thread. lol

I’m a critic. He had a great game. I’m happy for him and hope he can have many more this year. It’s time he has games like these

IMO it was a tale of two halves for him and others on the team. Particularly on the defensive end of the floor.

Geo has been good for Corey. He's playing a little more under control, taking more pull-up jumpers, and he knows Geo is there to lessen the burden of being the engine of the offense. Geo's presence has helped elevate Corey's game.

That said, Corey deserves all the kudos he's getting lately, especially for this win over a good SHU team. Corey had himself a day.

Did you watch the game or just see the stat sheet?

I fell asleep at halftime (was up late watching video of Northern Arizona), probably during a commercial. When I woke up Drake & Iowa was on & I had a buncha texts about Rutgers & Corey.

not a hater and wish him the best...THIS is what we've been looking for..under control and to his strengths. NICE game for sure (and last 2)....turning it on. What we need to exceed expectations.
He is a much better shooter when spotting up or his momentum is toward the hoop. Its the fade away shots that kills his game. Today is proof positive to cut out the unnecessary fade away tries.

100% His balance is always a bit off straight up the way he plays..sometimes leaning sideways...going back is damn hard. This is his game..I hope he continues to use it. And it was all in the flow....all in the flow.

The only people staying up to watch the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks take on South Dakota are gamblers chasing their losses and absolute basketball junkies. Respect either way.

Lol

I had to watch them for a game preview I'm writing for one of their upcoming opponents.

Btw, I was impressed with South Dakota. That's a good team

Fantastic game by Corey. This is the type of performance he needs to do consistently if he truly has NBA aspirations. Pity some of the snowflakes on this board don't know the difference between being critical and hating on someone.

Being critical is saying something once or maybe a few times to make a point....saying the same thing after every game, every mistake, or after every bad play is " hating on someone " . On this board it's Haters. Not only do they say the same thing over and over...but, they laugh and ridicule one of our own.....and our best player. That's Hating to the Nth Degree.

HATER....A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

You do realize this is a college message board, not a soccer mom board right? Your constant defense of all the players is ridiculous. Of course people will post negative stuff about our players games. They'll also post good stuff. Duh, that's what people do when they're discussing sports on message boards or in person. They talk about the good and the bad that they see and who and what they'd like to see out there. It's not about hating, jeez man. And they will post the same stuff over and over again.

Sounds like we have it easier than you. We concentrate on one team. You probably breakdown film for half the teams in college basketball. You missed a good one. Thanks for your input on this site.

Thank you.

Btw, I just watched each of Corey's offensive possessions and each of his defensive possessions. He definitely brought his A game on Saturday. Was really dialed in on the offensive end and, though I think he reaches too much on defense, he was the best I've seen of him on the defensive end.

Hopefully he can bottle his Saturday performance and bring something close to that each game.

Also, I'd like to correct something I said in the game thread (I think it was that thread). I called the win over SHU a solid win. It's not. That was a big win for RU for the program.

It was a tale of two halves, and both were good. He absolutely carried the team on his back in the first half, when no one else was scoring. That was the only reason the second half was possible. He did little offensively for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but then completely went off in the final 10, when it counted. I would like to see less turnovers for sure, but I can live with it when he plays like that.
