According to Zags is the #1 target. The most interesting thing I noted is that he has the same agent as Chris Ash.
yep..perfect time to jump fro URI. The small segment of our fanbase who dislikes him better get over it
Didn't he finish 2nd last year?Let's see him finish in the top half of the A-10 before we "throw the kitchen sink at him" to coach in the Big 10.
You start with rotten teams and build. I think the Wagner team in 2010 was awful and URI won 7 games in 2012.His track record really isn't that good...a single post-season tournament???
Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
Wagner Seahawks (Northeast Conference) (2010–2012)
2010–11 Wagner 13–17 9–9 6th
2011–12 Wagner 25–5 15–3 2nd
Wagner: 38–22 (.633) 24–12 (.667)
Rhode Island Rams (Atlantic 10 Conference) (2012–present)
2012–13 Rhode Island 8–21 3–13 T–14th
2013–14 Rhode Island 14–18 5–11 10th
2014–15 Rhode Island 23–10 13–5 T–2nd NIT Second Round
2015–16 Rhode Island 17–14 9-9
Red flag?My wife's cousin is a Maryland alum who relayed this story to me about Danny Hurley calling each Maryland player a "******" in the handshake line after losing to Maryland. Do we really want to go down this road again?

He would have won 20 again this year if his two best players werent hurt. This is not that hard

Need to throw the kitchen sink at Danny. Even if it means overpaying or putting RU in a position contractually that is not very favorable.
He would bring credibility to the program and has some chops in the state. It would still be a rebuilding project but it would be more tolerable for a RU fan if Danny was the coach.
The worst thing he can do is say no.
On March 25, 2014, Masiello agreed to a deal to become the next head coach at South Florida.[2] However, South Florida later rescinded their offer after it was reported that he had not graduated from the University of Kentucky, as his resume had stated.[3] Masiello was subsequently placed on leave by Manhattan.[4] It was announced on April 7, 2014, that Masiello will be retained as Manhattan head coach, but is on permanent leave until he gets his undergraduate degree.[5] On May 29, the University of Kentucky announced that Masiello had completed his required coursework and would receive a degree that August.[6]Manhattan won about 5 games the season before Masiello got there. They were abysmal. He took them to back to back ncaa tournaments.
Fair enough. The problem is RU getting a guy whose track record is 'that good'? I mean a guy who is a slam dunk hire for a BCS team is likely not coming to RU right now.
I would as well. Still, Hurley would be a solid hire (IMO). Maybe not the best we could hope for, but pretty good.I'll take Sendek's resume over Hurley's and he is a very good hire, IMHO, for a P5 school. Turned 3 programs around, took NC State to 5-straight NCAA's, took ASU to 1 and got ripped off in his 3rd year. "Slam dunk," no, but a very good option for many P5 schools IMHO.

Why?Can he bring in another assistant to replAce David Cox? I don't see him following Hurley back to Rutger
Can Rutgers spend 3 Million though for buyouts of Jordan and Hurley and then plus the staff salary to get Hurley? When they can get an equal or better coach on that salary alone?
I thought we didn't have the money to fire Jordan - we just did.Can Rutgers spend 3 Million though for buyouts of Jordan and Hurley and then plus the staff salary to get Hurley? When they can get an equal or better coach on that salary alone?

you mean all better than our recruitsHurley's got four verbals for the Spring (all 3 stars). Maybe he can bring them. We will need all four of them.
As one of the people who have argued against Hurley, it is not that I dislike him. I just question whether those who are enamored with him like his skills, record, and expertise, or if they like his name and connection to his father.
That's why I question if he would be as popular here if his last name was Malloy.
is any of that the same group that wanted to keep Eddie as coach regardless of how we were doing?yep..perfect time to jump fro URI. The small segment of our fanbase who dislikes him better get over it
For me, the decision on Eddie was whether we had the bucks to make a strong move or if we would be better off next year.is any of that the same group that wanted to keep Eddie as coach regardless of how we were doing?
