I see our team as very improved this year with a real chance to make some noise in the B10

At this point with only 1 league game played I will predict the following
- NCAA chances - 10%
- NIT chances - 50%
- other post season tourney chances - 25%
- no post season - 15%

We are looking like a 16-18 win team right now with a +/- of 3

I predict we will beat another top 25 team this year but also lose a couple of games we should win

It may come down to the B10 tourney for post season
- win 2 and NCAA 1st 4
- win 1 and NIT
- lose 1st round and other post season or no post season

There are 18 games remaining after Caldwell and Rutgers needs to win at least 6 games for a winning season. This goal should be achieved by winning six out of nine remaining home games against B1G opponents. There are no sure wins and crowd support is necessary .Any road wins would be icing on the cake and enhance chances for a NIT bid.

and would it be better to make the NIT where we can play 2-3 games or make the NCAA 1st 4 where we will not even be on people's bracket games?

Make the NCAA no doubt about it. Publicity. End of almost a 30 year drought. Nothing better than a tourney appearance (other than maybe a top 25 appearance).

just saying that if in the first 4 games at Dayton a team can be out before the 1st NIT game evens tips off.

The wild fluctuations in predictions are always amusing. After Pitt we'd be lucky to in 2 more games all year.

Now we're NCAA bound in some people's minds.

We're 9-3 having lost a bad game to St Bonna and a poor effort at Pitt. Those aren't erased by beating SHU and Wisconsin.

We'll win some good games and lose some bad games going forward. We may make the NCAAs - but probably won't.

But as long as we keep getting better and keep playing with energy, it'll be a fun ride. Games will matter. And it's been a long time since we could really say that.

Well said. I won't even think about chances of us in the tourney if we don't win at least 3 of the next 5 B1G games, i.e., @ NE, home to PSU, @ Ill, home to IU and home to MN. Do that and I'll start to believe we can sustain success more than we have in the past. Won't guarantee a bid, but it'll mean we're likely to be at least on the bubble. IMO.

I have to admit, I haven't had much chance to follow this year as I have so much else going on but...For the first time in almost forever- this football guy is still interested in what this team is doing going into their B1G schedule. Hoping things quiet down for me so that I may actually get to a game and experience the RAC with a good team. But regardless of the outcome this year, you can really sense what Pike has done and where we are going. Talking about NIT/NCAA seems like it will be very common in the next few years to come.
LAst week I took a look at the schedule and saw us with somewhere between 16-18 wins. Which wouldn'y have us in NCAA but should have us very close to being NIT if one or two of those wins are against a good team.
Anything less than 16 would be disappointing but still progress.

Please let's cool it a bit and enjoy the ride. If we should falter right away many fans will start ranting "same old Rutgers" again. I have been a loyal fan for 48 years and I want to see RU make the NCAA probably more than anyone. We win a few games and guys start thinking we will win almost every game. We don't need our players thinking they are unbeatable. We must just focus on one game at a time and not predicting the next 19 games at one time. Most of you have not experienced the hard times like myself and many other long time fans. I have been at almost every home game except for about 5 since the RAC opened in 1977 and attended 13 games in our 75-76 undefeated season. I have been going to RU games since 1971 but have followed them since the Lloyd-Valvano years. Trust the process.

Entered B1G
2014-5 started 2-2 lost 14 straight(2-16) Road 0-9
2015-6 started 0-17 won last game(1-17) R 0-9

Pike's first year
2016-7 started 0-6 before first win, finished 3-15
R 1-8(@PSU) H 2-7(Neb., Ill.) Tourny 1-1
2017-8 started 0-3 before first win finished 3-15
R 0-9 H 3-6(Wisc., Iowa, NW) T 2-1
2018-9 started 0-3 before first win finished 7-13
R 3-7(@PSU, @NW, @#21 Iowa) H 4-6(#16 OSU, Neb, Ind, Minn) T 0-1

2019-20, we have already started 1-1. There are plenty of opportunities on the schedule to win on the road and home. If the progression continues, they will be at least 5-5 at home and 4-6 on the road this year which puts us at 9-11 or better. They beat a ranked team @home and road last year. This team is better than any of the first 3 years. Yes, we are 0-2 on the road and 0-1 neutral, but the next 18 games are against teams he knows and is familiar with. We will see how things turn out. I think we are capable of more than 9-11 this year.

Fans are-well, fans. They blow hot and cold. Win a game and they are talking post season and crowing over the slightest move in the rankings. Lose a game, especially one we were favored to win, and posters will come out of the woodwork, detailing exactly how the coach's poor game plan and abysmal substitution pattern doomed us and maybe he is not the guy after all.
That's our nature. And that's going to be reflected on a message board. Being an RU fan is being on a roller coaster all season.

If we don’t make the NCAA or NIT, do you want us to accept an invite to the CBI or whatever the other one is called?

Beating Nebraska on the road will be a good litmus test for this team. IF they win and keep momentum to hold serve at home we still have another tough road game versus the Illini. The next two weeks will tell us a lot.

I love this team, I love their tenacity and fight, and I’ll enjoy the ride but I’ve been around long enough to Wait and See how we end up. I’d love the NCAAs but I’ll take a winning record first!

Every year. It's a message board, so we ride the ups and downs through the eyes of other posters, but we see this all the time. Last year on 1/5 we were steamrolled by MD at home and the board experts declared we wouldn't win a Big Ten game all year. That prediction held up exactly 4 days. No one knows how the season will play out, and we have a team capable of so many possible outcomes. But for a deprived fan base, it is fun to speculate where we could end up.
