Another New jersey kid off to Happy Valley. Only this one is rated by this site as a 2-star 5.4 rated recruit.
Did we offer ? Should we be sad that this kid chose to go off to play for the Enablers ?

Who cares, wish him injury free career with many many losses

DePaul players are avoiding Rutgers.
Not really if you actually look at the recruits
Dubois is not that high on our board
Walker chose OSU and to be honest, there is a long way to go in his recruitment
DrumFour we never offered.....the visit thing was smoke. we slow played him.
Alexander doesn't want to play DE
Vassell I really like but have no idea where he is on our board.

We can't take every kid in NJ. With three possible DL commit openings and one already taken, we need to float the numbers.

Hewitt's measurables and offer list is comparable. Hopefully he ends up being the better player.

No. Hewitt is rated 5.5 and a three star prospect by this site.....sorta average ranking for a RU recruit these days
The kid who just verbaled to Pedd St. is rated a 5.4 2-star prospect....quite a bit below what they normally get.

So TTFP lands a 2 star without big time offers from NJ and we ask why didn't we get/offer him...BUT

If Flood lands a 3 star we get on him for not being able to land big time talent. Got it.

who are you refering to by "we" ? since no one in this thread suggested that Rutgers should have offered (or did I miss someone? "we" implies a group)

FWIW, the 247 composite rankings have Hewitt graded at 0.8267 and Dwum graded at 0.8281. I'd say they are comparable.

Our DL coach Panagos liked Hewitt and didn't like Dwum, thus only Hewitt was offered. Not very complicated.

He has several Power 5 offers such as Boston College, Pitt, West Virginia and Wake Forest. The reason I think people don't question at Penn State as much is Franklin has proven he can land those guys with offers from everyone.

I wasn't trying to insinuate RU should have offered him or that we got the better player, just that they were graded comparably.

Do any of you guys actually go to games and watch these guys play ? I saw this guy any number of times too.
I wouldn't be doing backflips if Rutgers got him.

You kidding? You may want to scroll up to the OP where he asked did we offer? should we be upset hes going to TTFP?

Or the simple fact that this is even a thread in the first place.

Does this thread happen if he commits to James Madison?

I wasn't suggesting we should have offered....just curious as to whether we did or not.
I was surprised that Pedd St. got a kid from New Jersey who wasn't recruited by RU.
And the question as to whether we should be upset or not was merely a weak attempt at humor.
Sorry for the confusion,

No, but I never said I'm glad we got Dwum over Hewitt or made any comment about the ability of either to play. I'm not sure why people are reading things into my comment.

Comments were made by a couple different people about the stars of Hewitt v. Dwum. I was only putting out there that based on the composite scores they were graded comparably. That's it.

Yeah again the star this is way overdone. There is a 2** kid who is making his announcement down in Maryland this afternoon who would be a terrific addition here...

This is much ado about nothing. Beyond Gary the midlantic region is very weak at DT this class (hence Dioubate being so coveted). Schools in the area still have slots to fill and it's pretty much pick your poison. Try to get a kid who fits your program and may pan out. The Dwumfor kid tested very well at PSU's camp last week, so PSU is rolling the dice.

Flood, to his credit, was able to go outside the area and pick up a commitment from a kid he feels will fit RU. He's probably as likely as Dwumfor to succeed in the B1G, just may fit what RU does better - who knows.

I have been very critical of Flood's ability to recruit. I'm tempering it now - it seems as if he has a strategy of concentrating on picking his battles with the Syracuse, Pitts, Temples and low-to-mid P5s and winning there. He's being successful doing that. We will see if that strategy will be enough to compete in the B1G east in a couple of years.

He's not winning any battles with the PSU, tOSU & Michigan's. My feeling is that RU will be an Indiana/Minnesota/Illinois over the long haul with recruiting like this. Once every 3 to 4 years you have a bunch of upperclassmen who have been in the system and you knock off a traditional power or two. Never go to the championship game. Maybe that's in the cards for the next coach.

You do NOT have a clue on what you are talking about, just go back & make sure that the PSU showers are empty before any coaches go into them!

What part of the post was the "no clue" or did you just see the chance to throw in a "clever" shower reference?

Yeah, well.....there have been any number of 2-star linemen that Rutgers has successfully recruited over the years. That's not so unusual. Some of them have even turned out to be quality football players here.
But I don't recall Pedd St. taking many 5.4 rated 2-star recruits....particularly from our backyard.... and without an RU offer.
It just seems quite unusual.

See above. It's a pretty thin year for DT in the Midlantic and PSU has a bunch of slots to fill.
