Diallo out indefinitely with broken foot per Carino

one of the main concerns I mentioned for RU coming into this season was their depth. And now it's really beginning to hurt them

no matter how you felt about them, losing Etou, Ryan Johnson, and Kejuan Johnson all in the same offseason was huge for RU considering they didn't have many scholarship players to begin with

This might go down as one of the worst seasons in recent memories for RU..and that is saying a lot. I can't see Eddie Jordan surviving this dreadful of a season and coming back next year as head coach

Wacky thought -- Time to suit up Rutgers football players Zack Heeman and Keith Lumpkin? Both were decent high school front court hoops players. I'll let others discuss whether they could make contributions similar to Diallo's.

Hate to say it, but Eddie now has a built-in excuse. He's definitely coming back next year. Izzo wouldn't win a dozen games with this bunch.

that is a good point but I think the total losses and the way they will lose will leave such a sour taste that the new AD will have no choice but to look for a new voice in the locker room. Losing the way they've been losing this year really effects players morale and builds a losing mentality which can carry on from year to year

lol funny. I did think at some point during the offseason when I realized how thin this RU roster was going to be that they should of really take advantage of recruiting walk-ons. Some programs find 1 or 2 guys that end up being rotational players for them. Would of been nice to have some walk on that were above 6'0 tall..

Mike...I fear you may be right. I really really hope that the injury excuse is not used to justify bringing him back another year. Its the lack of depth and losing THREE players to transfer that hurts, now people can say well 2 of those 3 weren't all that good anyhow but who was bringing them in. Etou was a major loss even if people say it wasn't.

That is crazy. If he has a broken foot, that is at least 3-4 weeks out.

RU's healthy available scholarship depth chart as of this moment:

PG: Sanders, Daniels
2G: Williams, Daniels, Goode
WF: Grier, Daniels
PF: Foreman, Laurent
C: Lewis, Foreman

That is scary bad.

The walk-on Dadika gets playing time (as he did in the last game), and maybe Hyde (or is it the other walk-on?) also. Simply because RU has no other bodies. Just 8 healthy scholarship players available. Really only 1 Center and 1 PF. Laurent is no PF, but will have to play there as the next biggest guy up.

Moving forward every game with a depleted squad has the high potential of a loss as the end result.Following the nightmare of last season I don't know how Rutgers moves forward with or without Jordan.

I had the same thought. This is the crutch EJ needs to make his case for another year. Hobbs could probably use it as well. I still think they will just be delaying the inevitable.

Can spin it the other way, too.

Rutgers needed a good Year 3 showing. Recruiting went so well we rolled one over to 2016. The other went to a player who has to sit out.

This is gonna be a total cluster cuss for everybody!

Lewis and Foreman are now our only big guys. Foreman will probably have to play some center. I could see us often going with 4 guards. We really should try to get at least one football player or a walk on who can get rebounds. This is hard to believe that we now only have 8 scholarship players.

I feel bad for the kid and team

But as a fan, this season was already a clusterf*ck, and in the cr@pper, and we weren't even in league play yet

I really hope Mr hobbs doesn't use this as a reason to keep ej another year.

That would make this Diallo news even worse than it already is!!!

Well, at least we know that he didn't hurt it in a rebounding drill.

While it hurts to have lose a scholarship player given our low total of scholarships, it doesn't hide the fact that that total number of scholarship players was low to begin with and EJ didn't add any for next year in the early signing period, and it doesn't hide the fact that DIallo wasn't producing all that much. If the AD doesn't see through this smokescreen, he never will. I do, however expect EJ to start playing up the injuries.

Worse than the football season.

Losing Diallo sucks but let's face it. We were getting blown out anyway. The degree to which that happens might be slightly worse.

It's year 3. The injury excuse doesn't work in basketball anymore.

This latest bad news confirms what I always suspected -- that the RAC is built on an ancient burial ground. Time to bring in a Shaman.
