Well, he might want to actually get to one first. If I had to wager that he would make an Elite 8, I would probably vote no. They are very hard to make.

If we have two 5*’s and threw 4*’s starting in 2024 (under the assumption cliff does a 5th year)? Then yeah I mean it makes us one of the most talented teams in america haha.
But i think people like @mugrat86 don't realize that if its merely one 4* per class were one of the least talented teams in our conference. If we just go by classes 2021-2023 for example we only had one 4* across those three classes. That is 3rd worst in the conference only ahead of NW and Minny
Everyone keeps talking about Dylan but if you watched the recent rivals podcast they talked about Ace Bailey being very high on Rutgers. He may be an even better recruit.
If Pike starts landing these types you're looking at UVA type teams. Elite defense with a few studs on the team that can bring us to the final 4.

You guys are too much. We were a missed dunk from beating a team that went to final four. We also were taken out of tournament during Covid after beating Purdue at their place which is one of top 5 hardest places to win

The point you’re missing is that when you proclaim someone has a certain ceiling you are implying that is his long term ceiling. The way you have characterized Pike is that he has a low long range ceiling which seems to be a crumbling analysis.
Let's get to the tourney first before we start talking about Sweet 16s and Elite 8s. I love how this team plays, but there are some glaring challenges offensively. Our season starts Monday - this team definitely looks like a tournament team to me, but we have 18 straight games against B1G competition (even in a down year) that is going to be challenging night in and night out. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
11-7 will get us in the tournament with no trouble. No bubble. No worrying. Just watching to see our seed and who and where we'll play.
Good comparison. Our D will always be there but with Scorers added we will be more consistent offensively .
For sure. The 19-20 and 20-21 squads were better/deeper teams top to bottom. We could have made noise in either tourney - and nearly did. I’m pretty excited to see how good this team can be over the next couple of weeks - these guys are still just a few injuries and (3-4) blown calls (on one play) from being one of the few undefeateds left.
Ceiling is a ceiling. You can't say oh now that he lands star recruits his ceiling has changed when you are projecting his ceiling as a coach.
A projection of a low ceiling coach is at minimum of one if not two of the following
A. He can't coach
B. He can't recruit

Championships are a tough road so if we're really being honest his ceiling with Rutgers is probably the knockout stage of the World Cup.
All of the Pike haters should just admit they were 100% wrong on him instead of doubling down on stupidity
We can win the Big Ten regular season any year. His peak is it all. The NCAA tournament as fun as it is, is a bit of a crapshoot so to say there’s a peak for a coach is silly. We could get randomly hot like we did literally a few months ago where we beat 4 ranked teams in a row - if that happens during March that means we would have been in the final 4 so doing the math that could happen - he’s proven we can get hot like that already in real life, not speculative
Did he beat Temple, Miami and Seton Hall this year with inferior recruits. No 5 stars on those teams. Right now I'm happy to make the tourney and am hoping it turns into a recruiting windfall. If Myles, who was playing on a bad ankle, makes the dunk against Houston, things were lined up for a final 4 that year.
