domain registry and site hosting

I am thinking of setting up a site and need some info about the registry and hosting. I want to avoid the more commercial sites like Godaddy. I also dont want to break the bank. If anyone has experience I would appreciate it.

lunarpages is who I use. They are pretty good.

I use Heller Information Systems for three different sites. For domain registry and hosting, I pay somewhere around $120 a year, which isn't as cheap as you could get by any means. However, they have really phenomenal customer service - any time I have a problem they're incredibly responsive and generally very helpful.
