Yes! that has to be it! having a QB would could win games and limit the blow outs is very much overrated, as a coach, it's all about the system you install!
Currently the system calls for the QB to hand off and throw passes, if Rettig was good and putting in the time and effort to learn the offense he would win the starting job or at least the back up or the third string or the forth string.
Did he throw a TD pass last year against OSU? How did the QB's do this year against OSU? I answered your question in my previous post. The depth chart cliche is getting old. He may not be heads and shoulders better than the current quarterbacks but he should get a chance to prove it or disprove it based on the play of the QB's that got PT.
