Donyell Marshall NOT hired as an assistant

How did the media get the information to make the announcement? The possibilities are few either Marshall or somebody working at Rutgers.

well all day carino and dunleavy saying none of their ru sources could confirm and were adamant nothing was done. So I tend to think not from our side.

It's possible that RU can't announce or confirm anything until all the paperwork is done. Until then they will say nothing in case something goes awry in the negotiations.

or maybe Marshall is getting a bigger job elsewhere..hmmm..

Another potential job offer could be on the table

hopefully Jim Calhon convinces him to go with Pikiell.

One potential hiccup, Marshall went to Buffalo, in part, because it is close to where his son was attending HS in Cleveland. His wife mentioned that in the article linked in this thread.

he was at Rider before Buffalo, so he knows Jersey.....I have my fingers crossed.

Marshall was not hired, per Zags.

He apologized, saying his report was wrong. UGHHHHHH.....

that's too bad, Marshall observed first hand from one of the best (Calhoun) how assistants take the sword and what is required of them.

Bummer and might be the case of leaks from one side killing the deal , though probable was just a rumor picked up and reported like it was a fact.
To often someone in the media gets a tip and then trying to be the one wit the scoop doesn't check that tip out and just runs with it like it's happening.

As for leaks killing a deal:
I believe that happened to Mark Whipple when he was the UMass HC and was talking to Mulcahy about replacing Shea.
Those talks ended once the news got out about Mulcahy talking to Whipple about replacing Shea and Terry Shea hadn't been let go yet.

Where did this news come from?
I doubt if Rutgers fans will get a answer to your question.Media relations has never been a strength at Rutgers and this is just another case to prove the point. Its one thing to name a possible candidate for a assistant coach position but to actually say he was hired required inside information or someone trying to get head lines.

What in God's name are you talking about?

I don't think he knows to tell you the truth. He just figured it was a chance to take another dig at RU.
Stop with your nonsense.I have been a season ticket holder for football and basketball for decades and like other fans on this board will state my opinion on topics .

You would think that the Local Media covering us has made enough mistakes that either their employer would reprimand/fire them or Rutgers would stop working with them (at some level).

We get drilled for bad things that happen, good things that happen, and things that don't happen.

Guarantee you see an article written on how great a hire this would've been.

Careful now I got ripped last week for daring to question the local hoops media, and their "info, just last week.

I'm talking about confusion in reporting which is continuing with reports today by CBS that he will be a assistant at Rutgers.
In today's media, no one checks out info put out by another media outlet and that includes bloggers.

Once one site puts out bad information it gets picked up by other media outlets and reported as a fact without really knowing if it is.

Can't put it on the Rutgers media because we don't know if that's the case.
Just because the media thinks talks are going on or concluded , doesn't mean that that rumor came from what someone at Rutgers said .
The press hears a lot of scuttlebutt from those supposed to be close to either party and if the media don't check out the facts first before reporting something is going down, you can't just assume it came from the school.

My question was regarding the post about 2 silent commits....i was wondering where that poster got THAT info.

The "leaked" report from CBS and SNY about our new assistant has ZERO to do with our media relations department...
