Dunleavy: The advice Leonte Carroo gave Janarion Grant on staying at Rutgers vs. entering NFL Draft

"I told Janarion, he's mature. He's definitely ready to go..regardless of what happens on draft day, if you get drafted or you don't get drafted, a guy with your ability is going to make a NFL team"

I would trust the scouts over LC.

The only thing LC really told him is to make the decision for himself.hard to argue with that.

By the way I didn't realize that Grant was tied for the NCAA record most career total return touchdowns (8). Heck that alone, for me, would be enough of a reason to come back.

Leonte has 3 catches for 29 yards receiving this season. And the starting WR's on Miami are all young guys. He should be asking himself why he left RU early.

I hope he has smart people assisting him. He has to look at a couple of things:
- how deep the draft is for WRs and where he stands compared to them
- how does he compare to the aging veteran receivers that potentially can be cut and free agents (ie. Cruz of the Giants)

These 2 groups are his competition. If the vets take a lot of jobs then there are fewer positions for rookies and journeyman receivers. He also will be competing with a few Rutgers WRs that don't have long term deals. it looks like Brandon Coleman will be a free agent after this year and will be an experienced guy competing with grant for a job.

He's going to be viewed as a special teamer at the next level. There's honestly not much for him to prove in that area.

He might want to stay another year to prove he's recovered from injury, but that's a double-edged sword.

alledgedly he has a child and may be feeling the pressure to look for money to support his family now..

Does he have his degree? I understand the desire to go get paid to support ones family, but counting on the NFL to make that happen is kind of a gamble without a b plan.

Should have kept it wrapped up. Now he has another consideration to further complicate the decision.

Add in the fact that it's another year and another new offensive coordinator to get used to.

If he makes a roster it's because he has tremendous skills and speed as a returner. No reason to stay.

RR had a very good shot at breaking the NCAA career rushing record and didnt stay.

Yea with his baby it will be hard to turn away even the possibility of an NFL paycheck

He should stay to build up his resume as a WR. Return guys are great - but you don't need to draft them. If he can fill tw spots on the roster as depth WR then he has more value.

I think his best shot will be as a free agent for special teams. Tough decision on staying or going, but the lousy season we had and the questions for next year's performance have to make this difficult. That said, I just don't get all these players who show absolutely no intelligence on getting someone pregnant with the protection available.

He played 4 years buddy.

Apparently it wasn't enough to catch more than a few passes for almost no yardage this season. I hope the Dolphins don't cut him in trading camp next season.

Great college player but will he hang on in the NFL ?

His Rutgers stats mean nothing now for him.

family = money; nfl = money, unless he comes from a well to do family who will assist him and his family for a year he has to go
You were supposed to reply : "& the Other Thing."

He made 1.3 million this year. The GM should be fired if you cut your 3rd round pick after 1 year.
