Dymere Miller and Kenny Fletcher...

It's maybe oversimplifying a little, but I am not judging anybody's performance from the Howard game, including any WRs.

Yes, Howard came to play and has some good players and all. But these pay-to-play out of conference games are rarely predictive of how any player will do when facing tougher, let alone elite, competition. Our players should all look pretty good when playing Howard, or we have a problem.

Doesn't mean our WR room and other position groups haven't improved or won't have a good season. I think they almost certainty have improved and may well wind up having a great season.

I just think setting the bar based on the Howard game is setting it too low.

AK was the best take away from this game as far as I’m concerned. He was 7 for 7 on the shorts and more important, it’s obvious he has the green light to make live in game decisions besides throwing the ball away. No - he wasn’t pressured much, but what we can take away is that if the OL protects him, he can be relied on to get the ball to the TEs and RBs in the flats. Thats great news.

For the younger guys out there, we had a solid run of getting TEs either selected in the NFL draft or signed as free agents.

Marco Battaglia (1992-95): 43 games, 171 rec, 2221 yds, 16 TDs. NFL Draft: 2nd round, 39th pick. NFL from 1996-2003.

LJ Smith (1999-02): 44 games, 122 rec, 1458 yds, 10 TDs, 17 rush, 76 yds. NFL Draft: 2nd round, 61st pick. NFL from 2003-2009.

Clark Harris (2002-06): 48 games, 143 rec, 2015 yds, 11 TDs. NFL Draft: 7th round, 243rd pick. NFL from 2007-2022.

Kevin Brock (2007-08): 26 games, 49 rec, 541 yds, 4 TDs. Undrafted. NFL from 2009-2015.

DC Jefferson (2009-12): 50 games, 47 rec, 560 yds, 2 TDs. NFL Draft: 7th round, 219th pick. Played in just 4 NFL games.

Tyler Kroft (2012-14): 37 games, 70 rec, 901 yds, 5 TDs. NFL Draft: 3rd round, 85th pick. NFL from 2015-2023.

Honorable mention: Tim Wright (2008-12), who played WR for Rutgers but TE in the NFL from 2013-2016.
