Elijah Johnson decommits

I doubt the scholarship offer would be taken away based on the picture he had with the other offensive linemen.Johnson probably was more highly rated than the two new verbals.

He's certainly big, but he hadn't really given a lot of feedback about the regime change, so you had to assume he would be likely flight......especially after this weekend, where the line commits stacked up.

He visited BC and Temple recently, apparently.....perhaps he knew during the RU visit that once the OL commits came in, the offer would not be available. That's different than being Harbaughed, right?

The offer letter states that the offer is contingent on available scholarships by position.

No. His offer was absolutely still available. Had nothing to do with the other linemen committing and taking his spot. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Have to agree with you. At this point with a number of 'ships available you have to believe this was his decision, not RU's.

I'll predict Temple, based on EJ and Russo. I won't get butthurt about this in the least, though. You have to assume that the players that this staff picked out have at least a bit more value to what they're looking for.

Jeez, let it go, try not to speculate, it's not worth it. We all knew there was going to be recruiting turmoil with the change it is what it is.

We have a portion of our fan base that is very insecure and can't accept rejection, therefore, they continuously look to spin any decommit as somehow we soured on the kid, or the kid didn't want to face competition, or he has a character flaw, etc., etc. There are some who just don't understand why a kid wouldn't want to play in the B1G given the chance because in their dreams they would die for the opportunity. There is no logic to their posts, just pure emotion. They have been rejected and they are angry and upset.

From articles I've read this kid has been an unknown for a while regarding whether he'd stick or not.

So, Mr. Johnson, thanks for your time...but buh-bye. -Oh, and don't let the door hit 'ya on the way out.

Likely another Anthony Campanile flip to BC.
According to this board Campanile has suddenly become an ace recruiter, lol. There are a couple of reasons why Johnson decommited and neither of them have anything to do with Campanile, whether he ends up at BC or not.

In fairness it's most fan bases. Fans - by definition - are irrational and can't understand why someone doesn't want to come to their school. That said, trashing a kid for changing commitments and then welcoming one who does it the other way has to be one of the more hypocritical things you can do.

There's nobody trashing this kid as a person in this thread that I can see. People are either somewhat overly dramatic about the impact the loss of this recruit will have...or they simply don't care. No one has said anything about Johnson's character, family, etc.

Personally, I'm in the "don't care" category. This young guy is perfectly free to go wherever he wants, but there's a new regime at Rutgers, so you either buy in...or you bail out.

Some recruits are really looking to continue on playing football in the 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th grade.

while others are eager to dedicate themselves to earn their college degree and play genuine

Too much spin and sore feelings in this thread. It most likely came down to who he felt most comfortable playing for. If he didn't feel comfortable with Ash and company then it's just the way it is. It's not easy to meet your new coach a few weeks before signing day with a whole new coaching staff. Stop acting like we're so far above BC and Temple, because we're not. Not at this point.

WHA.....BECAUSE HE COMMITTED TO A UNIVERSITY NOT A COACH.....WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ''HONOR YOUR COMMITMENTS''

It's basically the same posters posting the same types of things over and over again whenever there is a decommit.
