FB Recruiting 2026 QB recruit Gavin Sidwar decommits from Rutgers Football

Didn’t KC recruit him?

Probably more about on field results to date. Offense is the only side the ball with a pulse the last 2 games.

QB is a cornerstone commit in traditional recruiting. Sucks to lose because they are typically the cheerleader who helps bring other kids in. The way the portal is now. I don’t know why anybody recruits a high school quarterback unless they are elite and capable of starting as a freshman or sophomore. Better to bring in an adult to play.

This is why‘s offense needs to evolve. When we are renting players for a year or two, it shouldn’t take two or three years to master the offense….
Right, especially here where that equates to having 6 months to learn each play.

Sidwar is having a great season, let’s stop acting like we have better options. Can they get a kid from the portal? Yeah but at cost money, I saw someone post Rutgers war chest was a $3.3M that’s nothing. Syracuse gave McCord $750k, Howard got $1.5m from Ohio St.

The real question is, how many millions did we pay to keep Schiano’s 2024 all-star team here instead of spending on a legit Big10 qb…and no, a Minnesota castoff isn’t one.

There is no question that QB isn’t a high-priority position for Schiano.

This again raises the question on how important it is to spend money for facility upgrades vs saving money for NIL.

Penn State is spending $700 million to upgrade Beaver Stadium and Pitt is spending $240 million for "Victory Heights".

I think in the future it is will be more important to address NIL funding.

Some fans on our Board keep talking about the need for Pitt to build a new on campus stadium (used only 7 times a year) at a cost of
maybe $700 million (and may not have all the amenities of Acrisure Stadium).

Don't need it save the money for NIL.

A recruit is not going to come because you have a nice facility but they will come for NIL.

Additionally, once you get a recruit who performs you may need more NIL money to keep him.

SMU has raised a lot of funds for NIL from their alums. Schools that can raise NIL funds will have an advantage.

NIL and Transfer Portal changes the perspective of college football recruiting in the future.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

WTF? These quotes are terrible.
At least with other commits it’s about them blowing up and drawing higher level offers and interest.

“I felt it was best for me to take more visits to make sure I was finding the offense that is best for my skill set.”

"So there isn't a school that prompted me to do this. This was more about Rutgers, me, and whether this was still the right fit for my skill set. I'm back to the drawing board. ”
This is bad stuff

this has nothing to do with why Sidwar isn't coming here; it's about Greg, philosophy, offensive production and his standing for the next level

couple of you fools challenged me when I said over the past 2yrs that I'm hearing from recruits families (from their mouth) that Greg was a no for the reasons I've stated.

either Greg changes or he doesn't but we're not getting the ones we want until something changes

bet that guy that said, 'you're full of shit' is crying in his cheerios lol

sucks but it is what it is

It all boils down to:
Win and they will come
Lose and they will find reasons not to

Added feature: money changes everything and will buy the players that make programs winners.
Don't have the bucks?, won't get enough talent to come so the program can compete against the best and might have a hard time beating the 2nd tier.

Yes but unfortunately the price goes up when you have to pay to overcome the coaching/performance issues. $ is certainly part of the equation and in many cases a BIG part I'm sure but that equation also includes things like opportunity, development, atmosphere, exposure, and several others.

How could he do this.Don't you have to have a team from which you can quit?RU has not had a team for too many years.SADLY

Look for more defections in the coming weeks unfortunately.

The snake oil salesman’s words become emptier with every embarrassing performance.

Smart move on his part. Can't believe that any QB worth his salt would want to play in Schiano's run heavy conservative offense. The team's performance recently also would influence his decision.
So it has become.
G-d forbid the program limps home with 8 straight losses.. can not imagine the impact on our top recruits.
Fix this mess ASAP

Forget g-forbid and go for the gold :
hopefully RU get out of reverse and hits drive again, taking all 4 remaining games
Or the silver with three and make the regular season a winning one
I'd settle for 2 and see the team grab the bronze that will still make RU Bowl eligible

He's doing great this year after having a downer 3-9 last year
But the year before that was a good one, along with a real good 2021
That's why I don't get all bent out of shape with a losing streak or a losing season. Shit happens. Progress is not linear.

His record- if that was Schiano, after the 8-5/5-7 followed by a 7-7, some of our fans would be calling for his head.

When posters are aholes you bet.
Take a look in the mirror.
Different fans have different reactions to crap play. If you think the play on the field is OK and a place that top recruits are going to run to, congratulations- you are in the minority.

Maybe check this out:

Suppose RU finds the NIL money to pay an elite QB. I haven't seen any indication that the offensive coaching we're currently seeing would put that QB in a position to succeed. Seems like Mr. Sidwar realizes this.

Like any other decent QB, he’ll play for a minimum of 2 colleges before he uses up his eligibility. It’s just the way it is now.

Shift you've got to be just got to be kidding with that comment about our fans .. given the previous years. We've had little to nothing like that to experience. Wow.

Not kidding. Shit happens. Pitt was not in bad shape when Pat N took over Pitt. 2018 was a disaster for Pitt.
Rutgers got back on track last year. This year happened. It's shit. If next year is a repeat, then there is a big problem.

Newsflash...none of them can sign just yet.
It's just laughable seeing supposed Rutgers fans posting about the wisdom of QBs and WRs who would consider committing to Rutgers.
Haven't you heard:
