As long as we stay focused, we can be in for a big run over the next couple of years

Enjoy the steps along the way ...it’s been a long time coming

Next step ...Minnesota

Maryland had a double digit lead against Purdue but they are choking big time.Score now 55-50 with 2 minutes remaining.

“We” can do whatever the hell we want. It’s discussion on a message board that has zero impact on the games. To my knowledge no one on the team posts here.

If the players read (and believe) what is written and said here and elsewhere, it can have an impact.

I am sure knights1212 is posting cautionary notes partially for that reason.
Hopefully the players get enough reminders from a variety of places to stay focused.

WE WERE PICKED 12th...

Being cautious with optimism as a fan is fine. But, what real fan doesn't try to see some light when there appears to be only darkness?
But, right now our team is squarely in the bright lights for everyone. What team wants to play us at the RAC?
Our venue is becoming a house of horrors for opposing league teams that already have a problem winning anywhere on the road?
Pike seems to have this team centered and hungry. Look at how the other guys have shown serious cases of nerves.
We are hearing things from commentators, coaches and others that we have not heard for a long time. Hell, there are RU students and fans who were not even alive when this happened last!
Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

It's been stated time after time that players read this board. It absolutely CAN have an effect on a team's mental approach. Its not even debatable. In fact during the same game where they mentioned RU possibly being MSU's biggest challenge (which I don't agree with at all -prob OSU or Much at end of day) the announcer commented on how easy it is for a team (Purdue) to listen to all the accolodaes when the only ones telling to to keep focused are the coaches. And its easy to bask in the adulation and get lax. Just look at PSU - they get ranked and immediately go on their longest losing streak in a year. Yup, reading their fan boards too much...

Lol, I think you guys are legitimately good and will avoid the Bubble, but I felt kind of slighted! :P

I hate anything Dakich says, though. Hoosier ass clown who loves hearing himself talk and is always dumping on Illinois.

(Disclosure: RU very well could be the second best team.)
You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here after our last fight

Guys on the teams read the boards but if anything- it would be a huge positive and motivation to read what is being said right now.

I’d like to think guys with the physical and mental ability to play high major ball aren’t going to spend any time thinking about what middle aged men write about them on the Internet.
Its not just that. They are human. They are getting it from all sources now. Friends, Twitter, Kids around campus, the local press. How can it NOT be around them?
1212s point probably was meant for everyone around the program not just the group you called out but everyone including the plenty of young alumnus and even current students posting here.
If you've never seen a Rutgers bball team get over confident then you've missed a lot of games over the years.

Just said it during the maryland purdue game, wow

I don't think that's true. Purdue is the biggest threat to me, Painter is a damn good coach and Maryland had them blown out in the first half and they made it a 3 point game.

That being said, Rutgers is not an easy game for anyone, I think you all have proved that this year.

I just checked the Spartans' schedule. They've been at home 5x and on the road 2x, so they have a lot of road games coming up.

Next week: at Indiana and at Minnesota

February road games at Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Nebraska, and Maryland

March road game at Penn State (senior day)

If this home court advantage continues, they will have to fight for the regular season crown.

We just need top focus one game at a time and not read so many accolades. It is a long season. Be humble.
couldn't agree more...Pike's trying to remind them every day they were picked 12th and nitwits like this guy wanna jump on the bandwagon early. There are so many good BIG teams that this statement is kind of silly...and WAyyyyy early...Let's try to keep the boys focused

I’m going to bridge the gap here ...and get this nonsense straight

1.) learning how to “deal with hype” is part of the process of being a legitimate successful member of ANY power five program in ANY sport

2.) What we are talking is NORMAL everywhere else. No one is talking unrealistic expectations right now. Every one is mostly saying ...”let’s do this”

3.) as a long timer. I TOTALLY get where our fan base “doesn’t want to jinx it”, “wants to stay under the radar as a result”, and, feels like “Lucy is about to pull the football from Charlie Brown any moment”. I know the history

4.) however...to erase that history and make that past, it means first having success, then learning to sustain it, and understand what it takes to keep it there and still getting Better.

Embrace this part of the build guys...and this part, fearing that if we can’t talk about it, This “one game at a time mentality as fans “, we won’t sustain it is one of the things we need to say GOOD RiDDENCE...and having the confidence, and realistic belief, that any setback is temporary and our rise is real and will continue.

The players know what they have to do. They know what we talk about is talk. They have to walk the walk....regardless of what we as fans ...do for talk

The coach has a handle on the players and social media...he talks about it all the time ...and even to the media. It’s here to stay.

Not talking about it isn’t going to happen.

Embrace the hype and positive vibe and have confidence that what’s is being said is the answer ...and that have the heart and determination to go do it on the court

Keep the talk coming guys. All forms. These guys will have a couple of hick ups Still...but this train isn’t getting derailed permanently

Enjoy the build
