Estate related car insurance question

One of the more exhausting reads on this board.

There is the underlying premise here that it’s somehow hard to transfer ownership twice. It isn’t and that’s a practical solution also. For some reason, that was the most expedient thing when we sold my deceased MIL’s car to Carvana - there wasn’t a legal constraint as much a an administrative hassle to sell from estate to them.

Mary and your friend sound like they would both benefit from some life skills training.

Mary should pretend that she is the decreased and hope she doesn’t get into an accident before transferring title to her son.

And a notorized power of attorney form. Tough with out of state son . They do care who does the paperwork.NJ blows.
You are right about NJ dmv does care who does the paper work. I learned this because our cars are in my wife’s name. DMV would not allow me renew the registration, even though my name was on the insurance. Had to be person who is on the registration.

So this issue was settled to everyone's satisfaction over a year ago. Unfortunately this is the 2nd time in a week a bot has bumped this thread to the top. As I don't want this rehashed, I'm locking it.
