Tourney will be played at the Par 72, 7,118 yard Blackhorn Club in Jonesboro, Tn. The 14 team field is headed by host #11 East Tennessee St, #27 Loyola Marymount, and #44 FGCU. At #73 Rutgers is the 5th highest ranked team in the field. #97 PSU joins RU as B1G representatives. There will also be 10 individuals competing including 3 each from ETSU and the Tenn Vols. Pairings have not been announced but RU may be paired with #64 College of Charleston and #88 Charlotte if rankings are used.

Rutgers will send out 4 members who, when healthy, have started every event since last year in Xavier Marcoux, Luke Wells, Rhett Sellers, and Weston Jones. Soph Logan Paczewski gets the 5th spot this time around, replacing Martin Leon @Tango Two who had started the 1st three events. I found it an interesting coincidence that Leon started 2 events involving his former school, Utah, including being paired with a former teammate last time out. Rutgers could have found itself in the opposite position as former Knight for 1 year, Cade Anderson, transferred to Loyola Marymount in '22 and had been a regular but is not listed this week.

After this the Men have 2 events left in the Fall half of the season. They will be in Vero Beach, Fl for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational next Sun - Mon, and the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational in Loxley, Al on the weekend of the 28th.

Update.....

#65 Liberty, who was not listed yesterday, is in the field along with 5 more individuals that includes 3 players from Wake Forest. 90 total players is the largest field Rutgers has been involved in this season. Rutgers players have the first 5 tee times starting at 8:30, playing with #44 FGCU and the aforementioned Liberty.

After Round 1 Rutgers stands T9 with 3 other teams, shooting a 3 Over Par. Rutgers was led by Xavier Marcoux with a 2 Under 70, good for T11. Luke Wells and Logan Paczewski, playing as a scoring member for the first time this season, shot 1 over 73's. Weston Jones and Rhett Sellers shot 3 Over 75's. There are 8 teams in the middle of the pack within 5 strokes so the opportunity to move up is there.

So Rutgers stayed around 9th throughout the final 2 Rounds and finished there tied at +7 with Coastal Carolina. They had reached as high as 5th today but fell back on the final 9. Luke Wells was RU's highest finisher (T21) with a 3 round total of -1. Rhett Sellers shot Even Par, good for T27. Xavier Marcoux finished T36, Weston Jones T59 and Logan Paczewski, playing in his 1st tourney of the year as a scoring member of the team, 83. Not a great overall result. One minor positive is RU finished ahead of #27 Loyola Marymount and #65 Liberty.

#97 Penn State finished 1 stroke ahead of the #73 Knights.

Rutgers returns to the course Sunday-Monday for the Quail Valley Intercollegiate in Vero Bech, Fl.

73 isn't a bad ranking at all for right now but if the team has NCAA Tourney hopes in May, I'm assuming they'll need to be in the 50s for that, so still work to do.

Mid 50's has a really solid shot. I believe Wisconsin made it last year with a ranking in the low/mid 60's by virtue of a couple decent finishes down the stretch including a 3rd place finish behind #3 Illinois and #28 Northwestern in the rain shortened B1G Championship. Just like the Dance and Baseball, Conf Champs get auto bids so the # of At Large bids varies somewhat year to year.

There will be at least 5 B1G teams (RU, MSU, PSU, Ind, and Minn) in the next tourney so it'll give an indication of where the team stands approaching the end of the Fall portion of the season.
