Whether or not you agree Flood is a good football coach or not, we can all agree he's an absolute awesome role model for his players and the Rutgers community. Kudos for Flood and his players for participating in such an awesome event.

BTW, Idk if it means anything but Nadir Barnwell was present at the ceremonies and looked in good spirits. He didn't look like a player who was on the verge of becoming academically ineligible. Hopefully that's a good sign but who knows as it's probably wishful thinking and probably means nothing at all.

Agree and thanks for your impression of how Barnwell looks.
Positive things like that are a breath of fresh air.[cheers]

Coach Flood should be commended for his leadership in the Special Olympics event.Having players attend is important for the participants as they are cheered on in their events.

This is the type of post that I LOVE on message boards. This post provides info that you just never would have known about unless you were physically there, such as Barnwell being there and looking in good spirits. Kudos to the OP for thinking of us and caring enough to pass the info along!

"Cioffi, making huge physical strides" is great to hear, thanks for letting other RU fans know how you see it.[cheers]

And in general..... Flood is a GREAT GUY. I love that he is a leader who cares about giving back to other and understands the importance of doing so. Our players get exposed to charity and the pure happiness that you can feel when you are doing something for someone else without expecting anything in return.

This is the type of growth that you can't really quantify, but that really make the difference when you graduate and move on into the real world.

No Mike, I have not seen him in person. I'm just looking at his guns, and his core, to me looks like a strong safety

I always love looking at the photos of the RU players with the Special Olympics participants. -You can tell there's real affection there and that it's felt between both groups of athletes.

Makes you proud that young guys like this represent Rutgers University, and shows that their hearts are every bit as big as their bodies.

I think that it is fantastic that coach Flood and the players attend each year. I spent the morning at TCNJ today and the special athletes are amazing. They are truly an inspiration.
Here's what I think of when I see Rutgers athletes at events such as the Special Olympics, hospital visits, or the many other appearances which are not publicized. (This weekend I attended a function and a Rutgers player came... it will never appear in the press, but I get choked up thinking about the RU athlete who attended)
How can you boo these athletes on the field??? They are amazing young people who represent RU, and do an amazing job doing it. So the next time that you consider giving them a hard time for an interception or a fumble -- please think twice.
