Flood Thinks We're the Morons

Flood is doing what anyone would do. He took a job that pays him far more than he probably thought he would ever make in his life. Every single person on this board would do the same thing.

The problem is the administration. They allow his badge to work to get in the building.

There's a reason why Les Miles let Rettig transfer ANYWHERE... he ain't the brightest bulb in the box
You have no clue.New offense under Cam Cameron who wanted running QB.Rettig a bright Kid an excellent student at a top LA prep school.

Maybe, but it's still no fun to hear boos cascade down on your home field when your playing your heart out.

3 more home games. that's it.
They've heard no boo's and what has Flood done for them besides prepare them to be unprepared.
You're very naive if you don't think players are thinking what the hell are these coaches doing

These same players were also aware they were predicted to win 4 games BEFORE Hamilton was lost for the season, Carroo was suspended then hurt, most of the secondary was thrown off the team, and they had a brand new QB w no experience. Hey, I wanted to Flood to start Rettig from day 1, but I want to support the team, and not friggen boo down on the field, for 3 more games. Maybe we get some breaks, and win 3 and get to a bowl.

Put your thinking cap on my friend. If we show up on Saturday and actually play like an organized and prepared team against Nebraska's spread offense and our QB doesn't fumble the first snap from center, do you really think the stadium won't be 100% behind the team?

If we see more of the same, Flood is going to hear it and that's the way it should be…let Flood earn it on Saturday or suffer the consequences of running the team into the ground.

If our coach thinks the qb did a good job the last 3 games he's an idiot. If he doesn't he should've said something at least a little more honest.

Speak for yourself. Maybe you predicted 4 wins. I actually predicted 8 or 9. But who knows, maybe I'm the idiot? I just figured our coach would actually try to win games instead of throwing the season down the drain for teaching moments.

This isn't the NFL. I can't say, well at least we get the #1 pick next year!

All the Las Vegas preseaon odds makers had Ru football winning 4 1/2 games. Phil Steele, had us in last place in the East Divsion. Of course, they didn't have us losing the point spread BIG the past 3 weeks.

We've been underdogs for years. How many wins did they predict in 2005? 2006? Etc.

because 4 wins was predicted before the season does that make it acceptable? What about next year when the prediction is 2 wins? Do we just keep lowering the bar to keep him?

No other power 5 school would keep a coach after the demonstrated ineptitude in all facets of running a football program, recruiting, game planning, discipline. If we keep Flood it just shows how exceptional Rutgers truly is in the most negative way possible.

Did he even say, I know the fans want us to win, we want to win? Nope just dismissed the fans...the consumer

Don't renew your tickets. Don't pay the required donations. They will get the message.

Otherwise you are enabling this dumpster fire and YOU are part of the problem.

Flood gets paid over a million a year to coach this team and we spend our hard earned money going to games and our free time bitching about it here. If Flood thinks we're morons he has a strong case.

How exactly did the loss of Hamilton and Carroo become excuses for the performance of this team? Both of them explored entering the draft last year and could have been gone anyway.

Doesn't Rutgers pay someone $1million+ to monitor the football team personnel and use the high school feeder system to obtain viable replacements for those lost through the graduation cycle?

He lost me when he named Laviano the starting QB, after saying they were tied the whole preseason and seeing what each did against Norfolk.

Flood has proven he has no understanding of QB's, which is an essential trait for a head coach.

The competition wasn't legitimate. Rettig has never played with Carroo, even in the spring game. In the 4 games where Carroo was absent, RU is 1-3 (win over Kansas with losses to Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan). In those games Laviano has completed 60 of 107 attempts for 580 yards with 2 TDs (both vs Kansas) and 6 Ints for an NCAA passing efficiency of 96.56 (Collin Readon or Kent State is the 110th ranked passer in the nation with a 96.9 rating) and an NFL passer rating of 54.26. In games where Carroo played, Laviano has completed 80 of 119 attempts for 1,053 yards with 10 TDs and 3 Ints which is a 164.25 rating (which puts him 11th between Gunner Kiel of Cincinnati and Braxton Lynch of Memphis) and an NFL passer rating of 112.48. If we remove the Norkfolk State game from Rettig's season, his passer rating is still 133.09 which puts him 61st and ahead of Maxwell Smith of San Diego State (Laviano is the 63rd ranked QB at 132.2).

"I don't think we did a very good job protecting the quarterback today," Flood said. "Offensive football is an 11-man game, there's no question. I left Chris in a little bit longer tonight because I think there was a lot to be gained by playing against this defense. You can't simulate what they do on defense in practice, so when you play it in a game, you have the chance to gain the experience of playing against it, that's going to make both of those quarterbacks better as we go forward."

Uhhhhhhhh Yes...actually you can simulate what they do on defense. If you actually have a defense. We can't simulate it because our defensive scheme, coaching, and talent are clearly lacking severely.
When playing sports on multiple levels. If the coach wasn't getting the looks he wanted with the 11 on the scout team he would just add personnel. If you couldn't find one person to create the disruption up front you add 2. If you can't find one person to cover your wide receiver you add another. There is no rule that the scout team can only play with 11. That is how you create chaos and duplicate defensive or offensive intensity if you can't find it with the scout team.

Flood is laughing all the way to the bank. He's made $4-5mill in the last 5 years. He's pretty much set for life. With his experience as an OL coach and P5 HC he should be able to land a job easily even after he is fired. He is financially secure for the rest of his life.

This depends. Our nutjob coaches have a history of "Mike Ricing" or "Fred Hilling" on their way out...in which case they won't get another job. I hope he steps down before he self-destructs like the rest of them.

This is a good blog post which sums it up nicely with quotes:

http://www.onthebanks.com/2015/11/8/9691290/rutgers-football-the-lost-boys

Everyone should read that. It is not just this message board who feels this way.

Everyone should definitely read that. Point after point shows just how out of touch Flood is. He's basically not even using this season as a "learning experience" but the last three -- the question is when will any of that knowledge appear.

But in the past three seasons, Rutgers has lost by 24 points or more ten times.
wow... that is simply an amazingly bad stat.

Really? You want to discuss the bumbling, moronic things he did recently, and then we can talk about his babbling (which is, essentially, that he says a whole 'lot of nothing, IMHO).
