“I feel I’ll fit well into the scheme,” the 6-foot-1, 207-pound Manning said. “Anything they need me to do, I’ll do it. If they need to gain 15-20 pounds to play middle, or if they need me to lose weight, I’ll do it. Wherever they need me to play to help the team out, that’s what I’m going to do.”
Rising sophomore Deonte Roberts is the only returning Rutgers linebacker who has made a start, taking over during the only game Longa missed during his 342-tackle career.
Roberts, Isaiah Johnson, Eric Margolis and Brandon Russell were the top reserves last season, while former second-teamer T.J. Taylor is coming off a season missed due to a torn ACL.
