For All posters killing our new HC- recruiting dead period!!!

Dead Period :

This is exactly what I saying, I was expecting him to be here exclusively for the next week and a half or so. Here's what Nick Saban said about Smart and UGA. From coachingsearch ticker site.

Georgia: Nick Saban says Kirby Smart will spend the next week or so at Georgia before returning to Alabama for bowl prep. This likely means up to the mid-December recruiting dead period.

It is a bad look, no matter how you spin it. Either you are 100% our coach starting now, or you are not. Interviews to assemble a staff, contacting every recruit he might want, learning his way around the campus, making connections with the local programs... that all takes time. If OSU was in the playoffs, fine. He should be in NJ until the dead period starts at a minimum.
who's entertaining the recruits visiting on the 11th...I hear Jordan Johnson is considering us again..

You're such a freaking idiot and an obvious phony.

Ohhh that really hurts. The idiot is whoever hires someone and let's them work for the competition for another month.

Guess what...than never happens. You leave that day! That's how the big boy business world works.

But not at RU. We get dictated to.

I'm not sure if you have an actual job (probably not), but how it usually works depends on rank, and you give anywhere from 2-6 weeks before starting at your new company.

Perhaps you can come and go as you please in the fast food industry, but these types of situations are far more complex. And since we have no idea what agreements were made, you should probably pump the breaks.

Like there is nothing else to do but recruit? Mr. Accountability can't show up for work? Let me guess- he wants a short vacation to re-charge after the bowl game?

Hey BigTerp since we are all new to this bigtime recruiting- please explain to me the RED DAYS noted on the calendar from Dec 14- Jan 13 That say DEAD PERIOD!!

RU 77 I agree he has work to accomplish here- but it seems that the OSU contract is ironclad about coaching through the season- Herman last year, Ash this year. These are New Years Day bowl games if somethhing smaller, he might be here- Cuse and MD new coaches.. As for Franklin- using this against us the same guy who had memory loss about a rape case that involved 4 of his players.

For all questioning why he is doing what he is doing- Here is the answer- There is a dead period.

(1) 12-13-15 Quiet Period. All JUCO recruits who intend to enroll midyear.
(2) 12-14-15 thru 01-13-16 Dead Period *with the following exception (i)
(i) Contact Period. Coaches may have contact with a recruit who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the recruit has signed a National Letter of Intent.
01-31-16 Quiet Period
02-01-16 thru 02-04-16 Dead Period
02-05-16 thru 04-14-16 Quiet Period

You can't personally see recruits or talk to them but I believe you can still contact them.

I am sure we will all get over this. But I really I wanted him to be here full time. We all know he has so much work toward getting his staff together, meeting the team, recruiting. Dead period doesn't start until end of next week. Plenty to do this week with recruits making visits.

What I don't appreciate is why opinions stated reasonably in a discussion have to be meant with we don't know what we are talking about, we don't know his contract, we don't know his obligations, we are no nothings, etc. I haven't attacked any poster for opposing views, I am just stating mine.

Other coaches left their team, OSU has another DC, Hobbs should have made sure he was here. There should have been away to work it out. OSU is not playing for a National Championship.

Again, my opinion.
