Fries to PSU

So because a couple of kids got drunk in college now that tarnishes Paterno's resume? Some of you are really stretching on your penn state hate. Don't you think its sad that there is more activity on this board on penn state threads BAR NONE than anything else? It's a bit obsessive don't you think?

"A couple of kids got drunk...."
Really...THAT'S how you remember it ?

95% of the arrest incidents at PSU were drinking related, many due to a campus police force that's very tough.
I refuse to believe and never will believe PSU kids are "bad"

Perhaps I'm just ignorant I really don't know of anything else wrong on paterno' resume other than the Sandusky fiasco. Don't give me the garbage about him and Doug graver at midfield, that's just sports but enlighten me because I don't know, what else did Paterno do wrong in his career?

Penn State Scandal - YouTube ( note nothing to do with Sandusky , it's “Outside The Lines” piece that aired on ESPN in July 2008 that above article is about)

That snake oil salesman might have had a dog house, but he truly cared for his players.
That snake oil salesman helped make RU FB a respectable program from the joke of a program it was when he took it over.
That snake oil salesman, put education and academic achievement into his RU FB program.and most RU fans appreciate that
But of course some won't see it that way because he never brought RU to the next level.

Franklin is a great recruiter and I can see why some jump to that snake oil salesman's defense.
They bought what he's selling and are more than willing to defend Penn St and Franklin at the drop of a hat.
Shame to see Schiano bashed unjustly in order to defend the Nits HC .

I wonder if those that defend all that is Penn St would put as much effort in defending RU from the PSU posters that constantly
put RU down on a Rutgers board.
Guess I missed those posts .
Heck ( probably completely mistaken) I seem to remember a poster saying they would send their kids to PSU before they'd send them to RU.
But realistically, doubt that was ever posted here by a RU supporter.
don't see why we bash Franklin. I hate State Penn but I will tell u one thing he is getting the recruits.

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/news/story?id=3504915

The players have been charged with a variety of crimes ranging from sexual assault and brandishing a knife to making terroristic threats and several DUIs. In one incident, a group of about 15 football players broke into an apartment and beat up several students after one of their teammates and his girlfriend was involved in an altercation. One student was reportedly attacked with a beer bottle, another was struck with a wooden stool, while a third was kicked in the face.

Yup, a bunch of horse crap. Terroristic threats...you have to be kidding me. You get big strong college male athletes together, they're gonna drink and kick ass, it's been that way for 100 years.

He is getting the recruits and there's no denying that.
I might have been too harsh when I called him a snake oil salesman ( meant as an insult ) when defending Schiano when he was called one.
I'm jealous of how Penn St ( the good ones) fans defend defend Franklin, compared to how some RU fans treat Flood and that Penn St trolls can insult RU while some ( not you) posters here ignore those insults.

Thank you for pointing out that there's no need to bash Franklin, though I don't him getting Jersey HS talent, I have to admit
they are listening to him, trusting him and committing to Penn St.

I guess Penn St FB will always have people defend them , no matter what their players do.
Rutgers, on the other hand, gets taken to the woodshed the moment a player is accused of jaywalking [winking]

Not by me they don't, I love our players and will defend them at all costs. By the way madhat, you're a great RU fan, and I admire the way you defend your Alma Mater

Stop worrying about Franklin's razzle dazzle in NJ, Fries committed to Ped because of family connections, right?

I'm always interested how opposing fans view Franklin as a snake oil salesman. Granted, he is salesy as they come and not exactly my style but is he well known for lying to kids? IMO, O'Brien was as sleazy as they come but since he didn't come across that way people praise him. He flat out lied to two NJ kids, a VA kid and a PA kid and yet no one ever takes him to task for it. Blows my mind that Franklin is always the guy that gets the bad rap

kbee and MADHAT - I wish you wouldn't try to confuse zappaa and RUsmrt with the facts.

zap - we will have to agree to disagree on what is acceptable behavior by college FB players. If RU ever went through a run that JoePa did, the one that was reported on by ESPN, I would be among the first in line calling to shut down the RU FB program. Your "boys will be boys" attitude and thinking that such behavior is anywhere near acceptable is sickening.

Bet that closes out this thread. Well played anyway sir.

I think the underlying tone of this Fries thread is not the frustration of State Penn getting one Recruit but rather the ongoing domination of TSFP having its way with the Top NJ blue chip players. The Snake HC got 4 of the Top 10 NJ recruits last year and is now off to great start for the 2016 class. As RU fans this pisses everyone off.

There is more activity on the PSU threads, because they attract PSU trolls. I admit your fans are adamant. You sweep anything bad under the rug and exaggerate your praise for anything positive. Wish we had some fans like that!

Because a couple of kids got drunk? I must confess that I don't know whether or not PSU defensive tackle LaVon Chisley was drunk when he stabbed a guy 93 times, nor do I care. The fact is that he is now serving life in prison for murder because of it. Ah, boys will be boys!

Can we please lock this thread? We should really care less since he's going to Penn state. I don't see what the big deal. I'm unconcerned about him at this point.

Why don't YOU just move on. Let us talk about this if we wish.
Don't open this thread anymore if you're uninterested.
