Football GAME THREAD: Rutgers vs. Maryland

Honestly, with NIL money playing a bigger role going forward the football program will be tested on and off the field. Hard to say what the future holds. On the other hand, our other sports programs seem well positioned for continued success.
Too bad sports other than football, and MBB don’t really matter. In some schools baseball makes $ and in others a few assorted regionally popular sports make $…at RU, that is not the case. The health of the AD is measured by football and basketball…even if that isn’t “diverse or inclusive” enough.

Agree…I wonder if directing more marketing funds towards non-football sports would help. Attendance at RU women soccer games was impressive this year, as they seem to do a good job tapping the local soccer programs/clubs. It’s not just PDA girls in the stands. RU lax is picking up speed as Lax is growing like crazy in NJ. Wrestling top 20. There are plenty of positives going on in RU sports, just not the sports that get the most attention.

I’m sure Dabo and Nick would’ve switched QBs 3-4 games ago if not sooner and made their other adjustments from there.
They would have gotten Devin Leary, Tywone Malone, Justin Shorter, Caeden Wallace, John Olmstead and Tyler Friday to stay home too, but what's your point? What does this have to do with this game?

Even if Simon started the game, they would have still lost. The lines on both sides of the ball were getting manhandled.

R.U. NEVER belonged in the BIG. ACC at best. They might win some conference home games in the ACC.
I agree with this . But like an ugly girl looking for a senior prom date , you can’t say no to the best looking dude in the class . Even if he’s not the best fit.

You’re the one who brought up Dabo and Nick. And I said they wouldn’t have stuck with Insanity all year long.

Back to real life, all I said was that Rutgers had a better chance at a bowl game if they went with another QB and made the other adjustments needed to help the team have a better chance.

Got tied up in football and failed to realize the hoops team still sux as well

All I said was that Dabo and Nick would not have won this game if they were the coach. The team was just manhandled on the line and Taulia probably had his best game of the year.

I assumed not using the middle of the field this year and the rest of it was related to NV's arm, slow release and decision making but that doesn't explain last year. I agree with you, we saw more last year. Still can't figure out what changed.
If you have a QB with a weak arm, you constantly throw in the middle of the field because it’s a shorter throw. Outside throws you need a strong arm to make.

The playcalling was a disaster all season.

I would but I don't feel like typing. LOL
OK at least you're being sane.

We'll get there. Going to take a couple more years.

And we're only very rarely going to be among the top of the standings. But the middle will still be pretty great.

Misery loves company.
Not B1G programs this year.
Recruit up , make some staff changes, prep for next Fall/Winter.
Our (Maryland) football team isn't much better, and our basketball team is starting to look like a disappointment as well. So I feel like we're in the same boat...

What am I going to do after womens soccer. Thankfully my daughters HS season starts soon
