This was entirely predictable. Maryland pounds the glass and has highly skilled big men. Much like Illinois but making their shots on home court.

Except he’s one of the more athletic players we have. His issue is no skill.
They are not passing to him because he's been taken out of game by MD. Md pressuring the ball everywhere while we chase the ball. If Pike opens 2nd half not pressuring ball full court we have zero chance.
When Ace got his shot blocked (not sure it happened before this season) it was like he got punched in the face. Either he shakes it off and becomes aggressive, or he continues to Turtle. Which will it be?

And people like to talk crap about Dercack, but he is a magician at drawing fouls, which means something. As long as he doesn’t get fancy with his passes, I’d still play him over JWill. Though JMike and Acuff (where’s he been?) are also preferable options IMO.

Sitting back inside arc chasing ball is not going to get it done. The only way to pick up energy is to expand defensive pressure
His defense is horrible. He is responsible for giving up at least 8 points. I don't see what the problem is. Make him point to the ball and his man in practice, then when the shot goes up have him go out and make contact with his man and then go after the rebound. Do we have enough coaches to be able to teach this?
If you just look at 2 point field goals and free throws, we’re outscoring Maryland by 4. Problem is they’re outscoring us by 15 at the 3 point line. We have to challenge the 3 point shots, take them away, and we need to take more threes. Maryland took 17, we took 8. Need to get Ace going, he’s been our best 3 point shooter. Chase them off the line, force them to shoot two point shots, crash the defensive boards and we need to shoot more threes in second half. Might be able to win if we execute this, might not either but if we keep doing what we did in first half we lose by more than 20.
Scangg i agree with you on most things but this one we won't and that's ok. It's a team game. Ace was open - Martini was wiiiiide open. Passes like that have positive ramifications way beyond any single shot.
Still seething with 3 defenders on own side of court and we cant get a layup or dunk. Davis catches ball at 3 py arc dribbles n same spot. You attack the basket and feed cutter on opposite side...basic basketball 101
Keys to win:
Drive to basket and PASS for open looks. Maryland gets lazy once we get into the paint. Dylan and Jwill can make this happen as they are high percentage
Ace needs to be aggressive and flash to the paint for HIS shots and also drive to basket for his pull ups. Not rocket science
Both of the above will open up our offense and will have open looks from 3.
Start defending the 3s on Maryland.

I see the same refs as most RU games. It’s that little High knees guy and that tall white alien today and they are BOTH terrible
We should, we give a lot of rest to guys. They don't seem to be having a problem.
Ace takes and makes that shot and maybe he gets going and isn't a ghost out there. Passing up that shot potentially negative ramifications
