Regular season winding down

Big Ten

None

Other RU opponents

#25 Temple 66 Central Florida 60 - Owls' Fitzgerald sets AAC single-season assists record
Bryant 70 Central Connecticut 64 - Bulldogs end regular season on 6-game winning streak to finish 4th in NEC
Southern Methodist 74 Houston 45 - Cougars end AAC slate 4-12

Other ranked teams

#1 Connecticut 96 South Florida 68 - Bulls have lost 3 of last 5*
#2 Baylor 103 #19 Oklahoma 64 - 18-4 1st quarter; ouch
#12 Texas 69 #24 Kansas State 61 - 4 Longhorns in double figures

*Not that anyone expected them to win this one

Also - more B12

West Virginia 73 Kansas 54 - 15 and 11 for Muldrew to lead the 'Eers
Iowa State 61 Oklahoma State 48 - Cowgirls shot 25.3%, and 5.3% (1-19) from 3
Texas Tech 79 Texas Christian 64 - kind of a see-saw contest until the 4th

Final B12 standings:

1. Baylor (17-1/28-2)
2. Texas (15-3/22-7)
3. Oklahoma (13-5/22-8)
4. Kansas State (11-7/21-9)
5. Iowa State (9-9/18-11)
6. West Virginia (8-10/20-10)
7. Oklahoma State (6-12/16-13)
8. Texas Tech (5-13/13-16)
9. Texas Christian (4-14/12-17)
10. Kansas (2-16/8-21)

Obviously the top 4 schools are going to the NCAAs and the bottom 4 aren't (well, unless one of them has a miracle B12 tourney). I'd guess that Iowa State and WVU get bids, too, if they win their first round games (and definitely if they win two games).

Today

Big Ten very powerful record. Also Baylor's dominance is almost worse than UConn. I don't like UConn WBB doing all this winning but if they faced Baylor in the WNC I hope Geno hangs 150 on them. RU, hope we can get a game in the B1G. I think we do. I think there's no secret and the girls/coaching staff/fans all know next year is the year, so there really wasn't anything to play for these final games when the post season was out of reach. Once it was clear no at-large, no WNIT, and we know it's impossible to win the B1Gs so long as Maryland is in the conference (though we somehow played them tight this year with this depleated squad, so..), that affects the team. That said, now is the tournament and so I'm not doubting that the team doesn't try in every game, but to me there's more reason to try harder now to see how far you can go, it means more than the late regular season games. We should see a better effort from the team tomorrow.
